so we've had worst and fave films of all types so how about what would you like to see as a film? it can be anything comics, tv programs or just something that came out of your... head of course. funniest wins a pat on the back
As I mentioned before, The Stars my Destination would make an ace film IF done properly.
Also, Book of Skulls by Robert Silverburg (assuming it's not already been done)
I'd love to see Legend by David Gemmell as a film.
Stephen Donaldson's Gap series. Bruce Willis as Angus.
Moorcock's Elric (more chance of that happening than the above).
ABC Warriors.
Also, I'd like to remake Robots, stick Sam Slade in it and have him slap Robin Williams about a lot. I thought a lot of the styles of robots were very Gibsonesque. Wasn't sure if that was genuine or just my 2000ad obsessed brain. Whatever, I'd still like to see Sam (both of them) blow hell out of the lot of them.
Not very funny but I'm surprised I'm not aware of a film about the Suffragettes.
It's a chick flick with history, heroism and death.

I've always maintained that the Dirk Gently books by Douglas Adams would have made a better film than HHGTTG.
Also, the Golden Age Sandman could become a fine piece of cinematography.
Stars my Destination- Definitely! The pitch would probably be something like Kill-Bill in space, except better. Mind you, they'd probably turn Foyle into an all american hero and his enemies French, just to be Hollywood PC.
I have, however heard that Demolished Man is going to be filmed soon. Could be interesting. As long as there are no French people or Terrorists added in!
Most Christopher Brookmyre books would make great films. Just dont let that dick from the yellow page adverts near them again!
On topic...
Button Man (obvious choice)
Luke Kirby (theres an audience for this out there, im tellin ya!)
Nikolai Dante (that could be SO good in the right hands...)
ABC Warriors (if directed by Chris Cunningham)
Robo-Hunter (Effects heavy blockbuster type)
Strontium Dog (probably better for tv, if the budgets high enough)
Dredd (Animated - Akira style!)
Being a huge Philip K.Dick fan,I'd love to see...
The three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch,Ubik,Valis,Eye in the sky and a whole bunch of his other novels and stort stories thats far to long to list.
Right now I'm just hoping that they don't mess up A Scanner Darkly.
Dredd - Apocalypse Wars :)
Flood by Richard Doyle
Of Phillip K Dick's books, surely The Man in the High Castle is crying out to be a film?
I'm going to be staggeringly unoriginal and suggest an abridged version of Consider Phlebas.
"The Man in the High Castle is crying out to be a film?"
Tell me you're joking?!? Can you imagine what they'd do to it? It'd be *totally* bastardised in the vain hope that exceptionately stupid people and studio execs might actually get it.
;)
The three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, Ubik, darn tooting theyd make good movies - ubik is fekin brilliant just reread it again - the ending is a pearler!!!!
Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson
I said that before too, LMS, the Stars My Destination (aka Tiger, Tiger) would be a great movie.
there's an Elmore Leanard book called Killshot which would be a brilliant movie (if it hasn't already been filmed)
oh and you COULD make a good movie out of Judge Dredd...
I reckon a live action Dan Dare would be a good rip roaring yarn, or a British Superhero movie - based around some of the old brit comics. I also like twsited history stories, Harry Turtledove's world war series springs to mind but prob. not for a film - Luther Arkwright anyone?
or a British Superhero movie
Marvelman. :)
Judge Dredd
The Life and Loves of Princess Diana
Maximum cheese. Should feature slow-motion "nnnnnooooooooo" moment at the end.
speaking of which did anyone else laugh at Darth Vaders "Noooo" moment in the latest movie?
Pure horror movie/Simpsons cheesiness
An animated Sandman(yeah, thats right, the poncey goth one) in the style of Spirited Away could work really well i reckon

suddenly just stops will mean they don't even attempt it. I agree it would make a fantastic movie, but since Kubrik's dead and Lucas (circa THX-1138) has disappeared up his own arse there's not really anyone who'd have the balls to try it ...
I reckon 'Cloud Atlas' by David Mitchell would make a great book, but they would have to split it like the book.
Anyone read it, I'm reading at the mo. so no spoilers please...
hard to decide a winner so all of you get a pat on the back, now im going to steal your ideas and be rich.
I've just found out theres going to be a film of Philip K.Dicks short story,The Golden Man.
Its going to be called Next, starring Nicolas Cage ands in pre-prodution.
After Reading the story synopsis i'm just shaking my head. They've taken a wonderful short story,Dicks counter to the idea, that men with psi gifts would mutate into something better, and just turned it into another crappy hollywood sci-fi film.
Link: Next.
A film should be made about British professional wrestling from the 70s and 80s. With Johnny Vegas.

Prompted by her recent film roles (such that they are, not seen FF yet and she doesn't really do much in Sin City bar looking cute), how about Jessica Alba for Mrs Anderson's little girl?
I tried to imagine her doing the original Death story and yeah, it works for me. Oh, for that to be done by Rodriguez and Wagner.
Failing that, Lobster Random! C'mon, anything with a Lobster God would surely become the greatest film ever? Well, it would in my house.
Yes, I live alone.
There's a Harry Turtledove short story called Joe Steele. Imagine Josef Stalin's parents had emigrated to America and old Joe had entered American politics with the same mind set he had in Russia.
Its a brill wee story and could make a fine film.
The Golden Man: It's a roller-coaster ride of fun!
Poor old PKD seems pretty much destined to have every one of his short storys made into a crappy SF action chase movie.
Incidentally, has anything come of the movie version of a Scanner Darkly?
Either in post-production or about to be released,IIRC.
It seems to me like the sort of thing they'd give to Keanu Reeves, I can't remember much about it. I think I may even have seen a trailer at one point.
My favourite PKD book, they could make a really good film out of it, in theory.
It's animated, which could be a good thing or ( i suspect) a really bad thing.
Just watched the trailer again, yeah, wasn't sure if it was all animated or if that was just the trailer, but it's starting to come back to me now, like the results of a 5 cent brainwash.
And it is Keanu Reeves... I don't have anything against Keanu Reeves, he seems likeable enough.
'The two hemispheres of my brain? Competing?'
Ah well, never mind.
I think A Scanner Darkly is going to live or die,at least with me,is how close it stays to the end and its treatment of drugs.I really wouldn't like it,if it just comes across as a film to watch when stoned because of the animation style.
It would also be a nice touch if they keep Philip K.Dicks afterword.
Just to kill this thread stone dead with questions of "who" I reckon a movie about the life of Joey Dunlop would be excellent - You'd have all the excitement of Motorcycle Road racing round the NW200 and Isle Of Man TT courses plus everything else that made Joey such a great - the joy of trips to Romanian, Bosnian and Albanian Orphanages that he not only organised but drove the lorries there himself, the humbleness of the guy who still pulled pints in his bar in Ballymoney when he wasn't racing and the heroic tragedy of how just a few weeks after his (arguably) greatest victories he was killed in a meaningless race in Estonia.
Everything about Dunlop from the iconic Number 3, to being rescued from a sinking trawler is crying out to be immortalised in film. It could be one were it shows that a good person can beat anybody else and that talent and fame sometimes aren't the most important things in a persons life.
I'd even cast Ewan McGregor as "Joey"
it would be superb.

animated dredd
well as long as Wagner got to write the plot (and got the right kinda money for then job)
Grant Morrison's Batman story 'Gothic', featuring as it does, murder, rape, torture and Satanism might be an interesting addition to the Batman franchise, if made into a movie..
I reckon a movie about the life of Joey Dunlop would be excellent
That's a bloody awesome idea, it's amazing no-one's thought of that before!
Mind you, though, you'd have to cast Jimmy Nesbitt as Joey, wouldn't you? Him from being just up the road and all.
One film to count for them all.
Silver Surfer would be...
