Well, tonight I watched Blast from the Past, which I really enjoyed. Post Atomic slip-up comedy with Christopher Walken, George of the Jungle and a blonde chick. It was a fairly fun romantic comedy. Nothing we probably haven't seen before, but hey, enjoyable all the same.
Reminded me slightly of Matinee, another movie I really liked. Half Man, Half Ant - Mant!
Anyone got any other 50's atomic kitsch recommendations?
...THEM!!!...
Rocketman
Flash Gordon
Champion the Wonder Dogfood
Lassie
Bedlam was on last night too.Boris Karloff and Amanda Redgrave in 17th Century asylum shenanigins
:)
"a blonde chick".
"a blonde chick"?
"a blonde chick"?????
"a blonde chick"?????????????
That's the wonderful Alicia Silverstone, i'll have you know!
Arg, I almost watched Bedlam, was it any good?
Ooh,Boris did an excellent "donning of the Black wig" part Paul.(When he wears it for the larst time!)
Hes does two major charactor chaneges.
1;The smug old grey-haired doctor of mental health.
2;The mad pieous scientist in his jet-black wig.
Best quote "Dont you see the beatings were nessecary!"(Something like that.To the gathering lunatics.)
You shudda set the recorder.
It is one fine bit of film.
'Half woman, half alligator - Gal-igator!'
Matinee was very good.
I saw Blast from the Past too... was very surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Check out 'George's' Frankenstein film if you've not seen it. It's totally gay but great.
Do you mean God's and Monsters? I saw that, that was okay.
Brendon Fraser does amiable bloke quite well. A shame about the Bedazzled remake though!
Alicia Silverstone? I'm clueless as to who that is. :D
Not being my cup of tea at all, I shunned Blast from the Past in favour of Oldboy (bizarre Korean film), which was great, but *slightly* fucked up.
I saw a good Korean Film called Save the Green Planet the other week.
Meant to reccomend it here, but forgot. Man kidnaps head of a big company believeing he's an alien. Switches between very funny, tragic and a wee bit grusome! I loved it.
my parent's saw Save the Green Planet the other week too, i managed to catch the end. thought it was crap so walked out
Heh, the end IS a bit crap! Worth a watch though, honest. The 'bee' scene cracked me up.
"Do you mean God's and Monsters"
Is that the one where Mary Shelley goes to Byrons house that fateful weekend when she ends up creating the monster, which will "haunt her for the rest of her life."
Hugh Grant plays Byron AND only because he attempted Byron, did I tolerate him.Growl.
;(
...'Alicia Silverstone? I'm clueless as to who that is'...
...thats the bat with tits in the 4th movie that is...
No Gods And Monsters about a gardner (Fraser) and the reclusive director of Frankenstein (Mckellen)'s relationship as the director slowly dies. Basically a giant sexual cat and mouse as (the gay) McKellen tries to pull Fraser.
Very good film, especially for Fraser's strip scene and the goregous white suit they get McKellen to where-honestly its like Blanche in male form.

She was in Clueless too, which I think was the point.
Blast From The Past I thought was ok, nice idea, quite good fun.
Not in me Top 100 but enjoyable.
Would like to have the bunker 50's home as my pad!
;-)
yes, that was the point, and why i put ':D' after the post as. She even used the name 'Alicia Silverstone' in clueless, i used to watch the series, hay, the women didn't wear much, and the black guys were good actors
I watched Blast From the Past, and enjoyed it, but my attention wandered after a while. I noticed Bedlam was on, but forgot all about it. Curses. Gods and Monsters was good. The film Carlsborg Expert is thinking of is Ken Russell's Gothic. I've seen a good Korean film, which was called Take Care of My Cat. Alicia Silverstone was quite rubbish in Batman and Robin, in which I could not help noticing she had a fine, downy moustache.
>Take Care of My Cat
That's an excellent film...
> she had a fine, downy moustache.
And what's wrong with that... nothing. Though I remember a women on a buss who put Magnum PI to shame. That was a bit off-putting
Must've been airbrushed from the movie posters...
Anyway, Alicia Silverstone's a fine actress. She was in a Shakespeare film, for God's sake! You can't judge anyone on the basis of "Batman and Robin" - otherwise George Clooney would be considered as the worst actor of all time.
I'm getting hysterical... off I trot for a Google image search...
Shes da hottest bat-girl I ever did see!
Speaking of '50s style sci-fi stuff
