Title: Dodgy 70s movies....
Post by: Leigh S on 18 May, 2002, 04:10:37 AM
Just watched Death Race 2000 - hilarious movie.  If it wasnt for the obligatory soft porn moments and the unbelievably misplaced soundtrack, this would surely be one of the greatest films ever - as you said PVS - Stallones best ever performance.

Now all I need is the Dunwich Horror to come round again...

Seventies SF movies are the best ever.  I wish I had a time tunnel.

How about "The Incredible Melting Man", "Grizzly" "Empire of the Ants" and "Kingdom of the Spiders" and there was a sort of follow up to Death Race 2000 caled CARQUAKE!

There sure were MANY 70's flicks like this, I saw most of them too!!! lol.  :-)

Here you go, one of Ezequerra's references for Dredd.

I'm waiting for LOGAN'S RUN on Region 2 DVD, I need some "samples" from this one for one of the tracks I'm working on.

The US disc won't play in many multi-region players due to RCE coding.

Its *very* loosely based on the actual story - IIRC its set in the Seventies and features numerous pyscedelic interludes and obligatory soft porn moments.

and an unbelievably misplaced soundtrack.

Logans Run is on telly next week - might even be tomorrow, but it's on at around 5pm ish so you won't get to see Jenny Agauter strip off.  Oooooohhhhh Jenny. What about An American Wearwolf In London? Walkabout, anyone...

OOoooooo Jenny..... I'm off to bed now.

Bye (Thinks....Oooooohhhh Jenny)

The Dunwhich Horror

Yog-Sothoth...

Ah the joy... I have quite a collection of Lovecraft movies and the dunwhich horror is one of the best.  The Whateleys are mentioned in the shuttered room, which scared the crap out of when I was a kid and even though I have it I daren't watch it.

Logans Run!  Again, SF movies with brains as well as sex and violence.  In my opinion the greatest decade for science fiction there has ever been.  Forget the fifties.

And of course 2000AD came along!

Cheers

Paul

Yeah she's a bit passed it but I'm willing to forgive her that in leau or her garment loosening abilities in said films.

Oooooo Jenny.

Any chance you could stalk her for me as it's a bit out of the way for me?

The sound track comment is spot on, you'ld get a bit of suspence then suddenlty a tune Dirk Diggler would expect on his movies.
Anyone remember Race with the devil? The only caravan v satanist film ever made?

No PVS, your thinking of.......????!
Peter Fonda and Warren Oates (one of the greatest actors ever IMO) star in race with the devil.  And a dead dog!  Superb film.

No it was Peter Fonda (I think) in a carvanette with two racers and it turns out everyone in the county worships the horned bloke.

Thanks for the info, I have the movie on video but there is a lot of "hiss" present, that's why I'm after the DVD, but I will re-record it again, could be an improvement, thanks again.

That Beryl Reid movie was "Psychomania" and it also (if I'm not mistaken) featured Nicky Henson.

Ever see Warren Oates in "Two Lane Blacktop" Steve? One of my favourite performances by an actor ever.
