Title: is 2000ad just for kids?
Post by: judgerussell on 18 May, 2002, 06:19:00 PM
what is the age range of readers out there? i am 18 and get mocked all the time by friends for reading 2000ad. they say it is just like the beano. ive been collecting since i was 11 and thought it was great first time round, but aftrer reading all the progs from 1994/5 to the present day i can see all the adult humour and sub plots. does anybody else get ridiculed by close ones?

If 12 is too old, what does that make me?

I read 2000AD briefly when I was 7 or 8 years old, but accidentally rediscovered it six months ago, at the age of 32, and I'm now reading my way through the hundreds of issues I missed over the past 24 years...

I'm 36 and I've had the occasional snigger from people when I'm spotted reading AD/Megazine, but to the comic format is no different to watching Eastenders, Friends or whatever crap comes out the box, it's simply an alternative form of fictional entertainment, I personally find people who watch junk shows like Big Brother more amusing then most, I don't think they could appreciate the satire in our beloved organ.

given the average age of the people on this board - shouldn't the title of you post be "is 2000ad for kids?..."

Its for people who have the character not to give up what they love when others belittle them for it. You wanna try telling the guys down the pub that you play dungeons and dragons!, youll be marked as most likely to spend a life in solitude with little to no contact with the opposite sex but we know thats not true is it guys? err guys?!

I'm in a very nostalgic mood at the moment, I'm dating a girl (20 years on)I met again at a School Reunion, and she doesn't appear too concerned with my Dredd/2000ad fixation... (or my JAWS fixation for that matter) so I consider myself lucky.

Nostalgia, it ain't what it used to be

Saw "Fools Gold" (Stone Roses tribute band) tonight, nostalgia for the young! ;-)

Age has nothing to do with it, if you enjoy reading 2000ad/megazine then read it. You'll find your mates actually have wierder hobbys which if you can prove they do can blackmail them with it if they even dare insult your intelligence and love for 2000ad.

Peace out.

Finnigan.

I'm 25, and I've been reading 2000AD monthly since I was about 10 or 11, and 2000AD itself since about 14.

And as always, I couldn't give a damn what other people think of what I read, watch or do.

Especially if the Vice squad would be interested!

I'm 22 & my girlfriend always put up with it but looked quite scared when I brought 1000 back issues.  But she can't really complain because for our first date I took her to see A Life Less Ordinary totally because of the 2000AD version & I was dying to know what happened next.  It was an amazing date & one of our favourite films so HOOOORAY! for 2000AD!

Anyways you can't worry about other people's opinions otherwise I wouldn't like Iron Maiden.
