Hello.
This is aimed at Mr. Bishop really, but everyone else please feel free to chuck in your tuppence-worth.
Just wondering if the articles were going to cover the whole Tharg leaves 2000AD & is replaced by the MIB for a bit before Tharg returns editorial shenannigans.
If you are then I'll just wait until it sees print, but if not would anyone like to shed some light on what the LRP was going on?
Although I was away from the AD when it happened, I can't see it as being a popular move with the contempory squaxx dek...
Good job he came back - because when I saw tooth in the shop after being in the wilderness I wouldn't have brought it if Tharg wasn't editing at the time.
I forgot to say:
i) When I say 'articles' I mean the Megazine history thing he's writing.
ii) I know you know David, you wrote Vector 13 Case Ten: Case Closed? where Tharg returns.
iii) Please.
Tharg went away.....? Heck, I have missed alot! That'll teach me to stop reading for 10 years!
One thing though, I just wish Tharg would stop referring to 'his mighty organ'(see current prog).

Yes, I'm sure that will be covered. It's going to be a strange feeling what about my editorial decisions in the third person, I suspect.
I've just written article six, stretching from Prog 300 to Prog 405. An action-packed two years that was - first appearances for Skizz, DR & Quinch, Slaine, Halo Jones; the Judge Dredd Fortnightly that never was - and much more.
As for Tharg's departure, let's just say it seemed like a good idea at the time - but I wisely left myself a method of bringing him back. Never say never should be the 2000 AD editorial motto...

For those who missed the relevant progs (and shame on you for doing so!), Tharg was replaced as editor from Prog 1014-1031, IIRC.

That's when I started reading 2K (properly), so I knew sweet FA about this Tharg bloke, though I have to say that the old V13 thing felt like a bit of an X-Files ripoff. Tharg has, how shall I put it, an exquisite, kitsch, cheesy, and almost camp quality. Long live Tharg.
And I always think Tharg makes the comic something different. More than just an anthology. It gives the strips some unity and is preferable to individual editors columns because it's got a nice feel of continuity. Tharg is really important to the feel of the comic. But that's just my opinion.
Having worked on the comic with and without Tharg, I quickly discovered how valuable an asset he is to the title. Hence his swift return in time for the 20th anniversary prog.
(Stomm, that was *five* years ago!)

It was six years ago mate.
Actually, it was 1997. This is 2002.
That's five years by my count.
Unless I've lost a year again...
Sorry! I got my sums wrong. Sincere apologies. I was thinking that it was nearly six years and confused a year that I worked in London with when I returned to the promised land.
Loss of face! What shame!
Thanks, David!
Look forward to that article!
Actually I look forward to all of them...
