And there's also an interview, conducted by our very own Ed Berridge, with the editor over at 2000ADReview ...
Link: Molchertron interrograted ...
Looks even better now it's in colour- nice one.
Note to self: THE END IS NIGH - write it ... before it's too late! :-)
As I said to you before Mike, that's a damn fine cover!
Also, having had a chat with Mike about his Alan Moore interview, I'm really keen to read it. Buy it, creeps!
- Trout
flucking diggery that loooks damn good !
hurrah the mighty BOO
How come no one ever mentions when I'm doing a signing?
"MELANIE GEBBIE"
Surely that's a typo? It should be Melinda Gebbie, no?
"having had a chat with Mike about his Alan Moore interview, I'm really keen to read it."
Let's hope the Scenic Ramble of Reminiscence Round Northampton has made it to the final cut then.
I don't think we could ever have enough tales about Black Shuck and the Guy Fawkes conspirators. If nothing else, the y help distract from the fact that Northampton spawned Jo Whiley.
Blek.
And at least we know where the editor's nan lives now...
Let's hope the Scenic Ramble of Reminiscence Round Northampton has made it to the final cut then
heh, i enjoyed that bit too ;)
a very interesting hour+ of listening, and definitely on-topic for the mag... looking forward to reading it
oh, and the site will be updated according for the weekend (he says optimistically)

btw, 12th dec - day of the signing - is my 36th birthday. just thought i'd mention it...
Aww...it's sweet that you'd chose to advertise your greatly aged nature. Well done on managing to survive for this long!
Aww...it's sweet that you'd chose to advertise your greatly aged nature. Well done on managing to survive for this long!
when i first went 'grey' i was only 15, and it was such a novelty for people (ie girls) to come up to me and ask how old i was... however, once i got married, had kids, and got into my thirties, i became just another old + old looking bastard... i was aiming for the "you're not really that old" angle, but you've brought me back to earch with a cheek-wobbling thud
*or* i might have mentioned it so that LMS gets the beers in ;) one can hope...
thinky
yes i know, italics OFF
I wouldn't worry - people always remark how preternaturally old I look. By the time I get to your age, I'll probably have the appearance of a rangy-looking Wilfred Branble. If I live that long.
"i might have mentioned it so that LMS gets the beers in ;) one can hope..."
Six months and counting I've been waiting for that drink he promised me...
shaddap about age you fools.
everyone knows the older the better.
bastards, ive gotten 4 gray hairs in this last month. NoT happy.
i'm no longer counting how long ive been around, but how long ive got left. seriously ! but hey i can retire in 2 decades or so.
mutter mutter young bastards lives ahead of them , me a burnt out bitter twisted shell n 'all.
I wouldn't worry - people always remark how preternaturally old I look. By the time I get to your age, I'll probably have the appearance of a rangy-looking Wilfred Branble. If I live that long.you mean you're younger than me! blimey! i, er, mean, well done you! you must be very proud! etc!
thinky
25...I really never imagined that I would live this long.
Oh well, at least there's senility and cancer to look forward to.
Unveiling the just-this-second-finished final cover for EiN2 - coming to a comic convention near you! (assuming you live in Brighton, naturally)
hah! you shameless whore! ;)
No no - you do it like this -
Whooooooooore!
Pfff... Call that a late night? I've still got lettering to do.
And I can whore with the best of them...
;)
WOW! Nice work JEB, is that gonna be a cover for something?
Rob.
It's part of a strip written by the mighty Al Ewing for EiN. I'd show you more, but Mulcher would probably implode...
;)
Dont you think that that sky could do with a milky effevescence?
No.
Fair play, i'll buy EiN2 to see the rest.
Cheers,
Rob.
The rest of the mag's going to be pretty good too ;-)
Well if we?re all lying back and thinking of Old Blighty....
Here?s a preview of my EiN contribution.
Is that PVS? What have they DONE to him?!?
;)
Heh, it's for a very special feature.
No more previews or clues now, I like people to have a surprise ;-)
Mighty Mulcher has spoken!
;)
Hmm - was that a feature inspired by something I said?
LMS
we need to chat v soon re content on the site... drop me an email with some bits and bobs
thinky
JEB - why are you drawing Robbie williams all upset like that...and is that Gary Barlow he's clubbing? I knew it was a bad idea for them to get back together, even if it is for charity.
Mark: yup, and you're credited ...
Paul: will do
John: ta ;-)
Oooo...nice...
I see some people get credited...
Silence, you!
only the nice ones..
Oh, I'll be silent alright...you'll never hear me coming...
That's the last thing I want to hear, at any time of the day or night ...
And that is another good reason not to stay in the same hotel...
Bolt-01.
You couldn't afford my hotel.
Well, the girls do charge by the hour.
At least they're girls though...
Just not legally.
Certainly not juding by your own peculiar peccadillos...
Pack it in ...
I'm not sure my suitcase is sufficiently deep enough though...
Just reminding people that this goes on sale in three days - interviews with Alan Moore, Melinda Gebbie, John Wagner & Alan Grant, with strips written by Al Ewing and Arthur Wyatt, plus artwork from Frazer Irving and Boo Cook - and all for the low, low convention price of ?3.99!
LMS
my phones on the blink, but just another reminder to contact me ASAP re website and other stuff+nonsense

the order page for 'the end is nigh' has now been updated on

I've got my copy and I want to say well done to Mike and everyone else involved...it is a lovely (and to be honest MASSIVE) magazine...
If you haven't got one yet then you need this in your life, so pick one up.

"No advertising"?!
Grrrrr....!
Eh?
Comp copies being posted today ...
Slacker. Ours went last week!

Very nice review there. While I'm reviewing the review, I should just like to say I hate the reviewer's cliched use of the word 'heady' as in heady mix(ture). What on Earth is it supposed to mean? Does the inclusion of comic strips, journalism and features in one organ cause a giddying sensation similar to the effects of (for examplre) inhaling amyl nitrate? I think not.
Anyway, The End Is Nigh #2 looks great, and I'm looking forward to reading it properly. I did glance through the 50 Things to Do With Your Last 7 Minutes feature, and I was struck by the fact that it's a huge relief to have gained a whole 3 minutes extra since the mid-1980s, and then I was struck again by the implication that to benefit from most of the suggestions in the article, one would have to be the only one who knows that armageddon is imminent. For example, there's only 7 minutes left to live, yet Games Workshop is bursting with teenage wargamers and one's acquaintances are sitting down to watch a 2 hour movie and don't want the ending spoiled...
I'll see if I can get round to reviewing it myself (double thumbs up!) if Christine doesn't beat me to it.
LMS: Just wondering if you read my message about the editorial stuff? If so, whaddaya reckon?
xTGx
David: Chrissy's done a review, apparently.
Tanky: I did indeed, currently working through replies to about 30 e-mails from the past week! Please be patient!! ;-)
No worries bud!
:D
Hi LMS,
I've ordered my copy of EiN2 off of the EiN website and paid through Paypal, on the site it says issue 1 is sold out, are you going to get any more printed or wotnot?
Cheers,
Rob.
Possibly, but I just can't afford it at the moment. In any case, it would be a limited run of about 25 copies because although there's some remaining interest in #1, it's not yet enough to justify the extra cost.
Enjoy issue two - should have been posted today ...
So, including additional print runs, how many copies of The End Is Nigh #1 were printed?
Cheers LMS, If you do get enough interest to print a second run put me at the top of the list!
Best,
Rob.

What about putting together a PDF version of issue 1, then selling it through the EiN website for a quid? That way it?s always going to avaible.
Didn?t you already have that idea, Mike?

Just short of 400.

I did, but I got a headache thinking about how to set that up, so I stopped thinking about it ... I'm having a hard enough time sorting out the 'Buy Now' buttons on the website for the current issue ...
I went to buy one with PAYPAL but got this horrible error. Is it a sign that the world is ending?
"Server Error in '/' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (encrypted="...PKCS7----- ,-----BEGIN ...").
Description: Request Validation has detected a potentially..."
Ah yes, Thinky should be sorting that out fairly soon. Please bear with us!
That's a setting in web.config... A particualrly stupid and annoying one that breaks your application whenever a "suspect" character is entered, which is of no use to anyone. Of course without it you'll have to put in your own code to filter out those characters, which is what they actually should have built in.
Right ... er ... so what does that mean, then?!
You owe Arthur 50 quid.... 'understanding' will cost another 50 quid
Well, you've got your metabox N0N codes confused with your primary warp gubbins coil inducers...
Hooray... issue 2 came in the post this morning, cheers Mike.
You?ll have to stop describing EiN as Small Press soon, firstly it?s better presented and contains more entertainment than half the magazines on WHSmiths? selves (particular impressed with the professional print job this issue) and secondly due to the sheer girth of pages it?s anything but small.
"due to the sheer girth ... it?s anything but small"
SNIGGER
Arrived this morning- looking better than issue one (not had time to read it properly yet) .
What I did have time to read depressed me to fuck and I'm thinking of poisoning my family in their sleep, rather than let them die a slow, lingering death from radiation poisoning...
;)
And the less said about Mulcher's sucking up to his missus in the creator index, the better!
Mike- it's James. JAMES. Not John.
I'm used to people getting my surname wrong but this is something else!
Aside from that though, top stuff and lots of it too. I think i'll keep it in the bog-it's ideal bog reading material.
Cheers
James
not john.
Dammit.
M*****f*******b******magazine!!!!
Sorry James, I can only apologise unreservedly. To be honest, my only mitigation is that the majority of the magazine was put together at 4 o'clock in the morning and at 100 pages I'm kinda surprised I didn't suffer some kind of mental 'snap' at the end. All mistakes are entirely my fault, I think I've now spotted most of them and future printings will be corrected.
Dammit.
And JEB - after all she's had to put up with over the last few months regarding me and this magazine, Liz deserves more than a little credit for her saint-like qualities! ;-)
Anyways, glad people like it. Hopefully, next issue will be even better!
Got mine in the post this morning. Cheers. Great stuff again, even *with* the dodgy amendments to the MADRISK map. ;p
Roll on issue 3!
the dodgy amendments to the MADRISK map
Ah yes, the amusing 1.30am discovery that the map and the rules didn't quite match ... :-S
At least you got the labels right, though. The way you were feeling, I'm surprised we didn't end up with random names of towns in the West Midlands. ;)
You roll a 6: invade DAVENTRY!
I think I'd rather lose.
You roll double one: invade MARKET HARBOROUGH!
Penalty: you become insanely bored and scared of weird locals. Spend next move leaving MARKET HARBOROUGH
The only thing worse than Market Harborough are all those WEIRD satellite villages surrounding it- and the isolationist nutters that live there, of course.
"Stay offa those moors" indeed...
;)
Spend next move leaving MARKET HARBOROUGH
You roll 7: During your exodus, you are ambushed by Tam-wearing Corbyites. Lose all your posessions and every scrap of dignity. ;)
As well as your teeth and quite possibly your life. I fucking HATE Corby. I'd apologise to any boarders that live there- but you probably deserve it...
;)
When I was a kid, my dad only ever used to refer to Corby as "little Scotland". It was only after some unfortunate visits there that I realised that "little Scotland" was actually an understatement. Scary, *scary* town. :s
Mike- it's James. JAMES. Not John.
Could be worse. Your name might not have appeared on the page at all...
You. Didn't. Send. Me. A. Biography. Like. I. Asked.
Did I send one? I forget.

Of course without it you'll have to put in your own code to filter out those characters, which is what they actually should have built in.
Art, i see your web.config, and raise you a "Validation=False", as well as such mitigating circumstances such as asp.net not liking nested forms (and quite frankly, who would???)
the ordering is now up and running. the lesson here? let us webmonkeys do our own monkey business
thinky.net
The orders page has been fully updated by Thinky (cheers mate) and all the Paypal buttons should now work.
Fairly soon we should have the 'shop' set up, with signed copies of the Boo Cook cover and a saucy poster design by up-and-coming artist Lyndon Webb!
Oh, and check out our
Wikipedia entry!
biographies will be going on the website once lms sends me the pics+text
mine, of course, will be the biggest and bestest even though i didn't *actually* contribute... let's see lms break that!!
thinky
No, Arthur. You didn't.
I like the way that you changed Bryan's bio - Soho Pub Bombings, indeed!
You're an evil man, Mike...but I kinda like ya!
Here we go again, LMS trying to prove things with his logical arguements and facts...
Looks like you forgot a lot of bios Rich - are you sure you've been taking your brain medicine?
Got my copy of EiN2 through yesterday, only had a chance to have a quick scan through but it looks terrific, the cover by Boo is an absolute marvel. Cheers GUys.
Best,
Rob.
No worries Robby - glad you like!
Got my copy. Nice one. I'm very impressed that someone I know can produce something that slick (even given the odd glitch here and there).
mine arrived yesterday- very impressed!!
Mr Brows' strip is particulary stand-outy
well done to all concerned!
Thanks Michael

where's my copy mr lms? ;)

Where's the contrib page and new front cover image mr white?
;-P
Where's the contrib page and new front cover image mr white?
tch, those free updates don't get done all on their own you know? perhaps my free copy plus all the brighton swag you've been hoarding from me may focus my mind on the matter...
thinky
You still haven't got that stuff yet?! Bloody hell, that Molcher has got light fingers...
Did he 'pay' for that stuff he had from us?
Bolt-01- all our contributors have their copies...
Either he paid or I paid - I made sure everyone paid. In fact, I paid for some stuff for people that I've still yet to recieve the money for (bastards!).
