I've just had photos from Jason Willbourn of the first Strontium Dog helmet. I need to order at least 10 from him to proceed so I'm offering the initial buyers of the helmet a preorder price of ?125 plus postage (?10 UK and Europe, ?15 overseas) which can be paid using PayPal.
Cheers,
Wake

Dang, it took me seeing it in 3-d to realise just how phallic that helmet is Wagner might say that Alpha is TEH GHEY*, but looking at the helmet,I doubt Carlos'll give the same answer.;)
*that's a joke by the way, in case you didn't get it by reading the rest of the post ;)
John Wagner says nothing of the sort. That's Gordon's particular obsession.
Am I OK to link these pics on strontiumdog.com, Wake?
whoops *not TeH GHEY
Yup, that would be fine. Anything I post on here is fair game, it's just the stuff that only gets posted to the Termight Replicas photo albums that I want to keep exclusive.
Cheers,
Wake
It's nothing without the perm...
Bring on the perm?
NO TRUE SD FAN SHOULD BE WITHOUT THIS!
and it's FREE!!! when you pre-order the exclusive Johnny Alpha Helmet.*
I can't quite get over how incredibly phallic that is.
Um... get over it?
;)
Been reading 2000ad for 25 years, and it never occurred to me before.
"Helmet"
*snigger* !
Didn't occur to me either until I saw these photos.
"Johnny's Helmet"
:)
"Tell me, old cucumber, where do I sign up for getting my hands on Johnny's helmet?"
Wulf Sternhammer.
Wake did you receve my postal orders yet?
Not yet, please email me.
How have you managed to sign onto the site without a valid email address?
Cheers,
Wake
he's just got a new job so i'm guessing it was his old work email
I'm so impressed, I want one myself. I think I may have to bide my time though, and shell out more for it later.
Wulf is coming along greatly Bast.
Thangyew ver' much.
Wulf actually hasn't been touched in about 6 months, for various reasons.
Still, I finally fixed my PC, and I've got some time off work coming up. Maybe I'll pull my thumb out of my arse and finish it.
Jason has repainted the orange of the prototype to yellow and sent me an updated photo.
The minimum order for the moulds is 10 but the helmets can go ahead if at least 5 people send me money for pre-orders. The online price of ?125 plus ?10 UK postage is based on PayPal payments. If anyone here would like to send me a cheque instead then I can offer a ?5 discount from the PayPal price.
Cheers,
Wake

Tell you what - Alpha doesn't use the camera in his helmet much, these days.
Have many people ordered one yet Wake?
I'm not interested in this helmet, if it'd been a judges helmet then definately. I think I'm more up for Dredd World replicas (like the lovely badges, though not the lawgiver) than things like this.
Looks good though.
>Have many people ordered one yet Wake?

Not enough yet, but the initial helmet should be displayed a the Zarjaz exhibition along with the Westinghouse blaster, an Electronux and some flyers so hopefully I'll get a few orders from there.
A Judge Dredd helmet is on the cards, made by the guy who did the Reaction Figures promo costume but I can't afford to pay him to start work on it until the lawgiver goes into production - which I'm still hoping to be this side of Christmas.
Charlie Towers will be doing more Dredd world badges. What sorts of full scale replicas do you want to buy?
Cheers,
Wake
>What sorts of full scale replicas do you want to buy?
The Grand Hall of Justice or failing that a sector house.
Well what about a lifesize Carlos Sanchez Robo Stoogie or would that be too small for the amount of detail it would need, and are the arms and legs likely to be too small to really work?
I don't want one full size (naturally) but a paperweight sized model of the Clara Pandy would be pretty lovely too.
Hammerstein's head would be pretty cool (with red LED eyes of course)
Any of the ABC Warriors would be ace, either just as props or wearable helmets would be great.

Even scaled down versions of different helmets (SJS/Tek/Med/Brit-Cit/Sov etc) would be nice.
The forthcoming badges, especially the Dark Judges I'm looking forwards to.
Actually one thing I'd like is a full sized Eagle, like I've seen Chief Judges wear as part of their uniform, or something like the one on top of the pinball machine. But better :)
Of course cost is always an issue, that's why badges are so good.
a lifesize Carlos Sanchez Robo Stoogie would be fantastic, i'd buy one of those
scaled down versions of different helmets
Tbh, I like that idea far better than full-sized, wearable ones. I've seen miniture medieval hemets, about 4 inches high and on their own stands, that look bloody great.
I'd be more likely to buy scaled dowm things but I'd be sorely tempted by a replica Helm. I just love that fancy talking hat.
What about mini-ones that can sit on the tips of your fingers?
Judge Finger?
Strontium Thumb?
Mini thumb sized is too small for me. That's exactly what I wouldn't want really.
4-6 inch hemlets would be about right.
Still want a normal sized one as well though :)
How about Preacher Cain's gun and Texas City Outlands Marshal badge?
4-6 inch hemlets would be about right.
Wouldn't you be as well off getting a bobble-head then instead?
The bobbleheads are nice, but the dredd one should be in an 'aiming' pose with the Lawgiver. The flexi-joint should be at the waist so he can be then aiming at stuff as you drive around.
It could also be coupled with a compass feature so that Dredd is always shooting North.
Bolt-01
Bobble-heads are toys.
Minature helmets would be more the collectable type product.
And I'd like a large collection of them, world judges especially :)

ooh, look who came out of his snob wardrobe ;)
I'll find out how much it would cost to make mini world Judge helmets. Hopefully closer to the prices of the world judge badges than the full size helmets. Would you want them to be hollow or solid? I imagine solid is easier.
Cheers,
Wake
Having my design head on, I think solid would be the way to go, but cut in at the right places to have an empty helmet look. A plain pole coming out of the helmet into a flat, weighted base would be nice and undistracting.
I for one wouldnt mind some more action figures.

Hah! Been there, done that:

Saw the Westinghouse and the Helmet at Zarjaz last night and they look gorgeous... didn't see any flyers tho'
In fact they weren't doing much to advertise anything they were selling from what I saw - if I didn't know from here I wouldn't have known you could buy the Ts
Dan
Cool, I'd forgotton about that.
Cheers

Or other similar appendeges... (you were all thinking it)
I was thinking somone was bound to say something like that!
ooh, look who came out of his snob wardrobe ;)
lol :) Bobbleheads are fine for the luggage rack of cars but not something I care for that much, don't look too bad though. Not got round to getting them for my collection yet though.

I'd go with solid. And also if they are more likely to be on the cheaper end of the market hopefully that would mean higher sales?
And I agree with Ratty, more figures would be good. Not possible I know but reasonably sized solid character models would be nice. Need to get the balance between tiny figures and pricey cast models. Like I never got the Harrop statues as there was always another GN or another set of dvd's I'd rather get or another bill that needed paying, even though I wanted them.
