Title: Should I sell a page of Kev O'neill artwork?
Post by: Brassneck on 20 December, 2005, 05:38:36 PM
I am cleaning out my studio in the New Year (wife's orders). I can't decide which of my original pages of art should go to ebay. Should I part with an original page of Batman art by extraordinary artist Kevin O'neill or not? If I do....how much should I be looking for? I have no idea. It's a good page featuring Batman himself, Gordon and a great rendition of the Batmobile.

If you do, I expect a few people from this site might want to bid... so come back with a link if you do auction it.

As for price... well, it's an auction so it could end up going for anything... but a starting price of ?30 might be a suggestion (I assume it's a pencils & ink job? If it's painted double that)

have you looked on ebay for a rough idea of prices that things go for, its only a rough idea of course. i think you might be pleasantly surprised.

or you could sell it to me for 99p, which would be nice.

Quite a lot I'd imagine. Sounds excellent, although not as much as if instead of "Batman himself, Gordon and a great rendition of the Batmobile", it was "Nemesis himself, Grobbendonk and a great rendition of the Blitzspear".

Being Batman though, probably means it'd be worth more? Hard to say, but you'd be looking at at least ?50-100. I paid ?100 for a page of Nemesis anyway (without Nemesis I might add). Quite possibly more given the content.

Any chance of a pic?

Actually , I already have. I do a lot of colour work but mainly in kid's comics and just for fun I scanned the Page in and had a bash at it. I'll try and post them when I get a moment.

Ah- now I get you. No. The handle comes from the old Dandy character soon to make a return drawn by the excellent Nick Brennan and scripted by Scott Montgomery (he of the megazine Desperate Dan article). Lovely stuff!
