Er ... in quite possibly the most surreal thing I've heard this year, the late Alistair Letters from America Cooke's bones were allegedly surgically removed and sold to a company supplying parts for use in dental implants and orthopaedic procedures.
The US attorney general's office is investigating an "elaborate ring involving funeral directors, surgeons and entrepreneurs".
My god, it's like a Dredd one-parter come to life!!!

Oh, and the grand twist-at-the-end-of-the-tale irony is that one of the things that finally did for Cooke was bone cancer :-S

Truly weird, and equally disgusting. Amazing that there's premium on the medical use of 95-year-old corpse bones, and likewise amazing that the bones of a man who had bone cancer could end up being used for transplants.

I've always thought the punishment should fit the crime. If found guilty they should have their bones surgically removed.
