Got one today and am terribly disappointed.
Not the best ad, I realise, but does anyone want it?
Premium Xbox (comes with Hard Drive, head set and DVD remote)
Extra pad
Charger for pad
Perfect Dark
Project Gotham
Cost me ?430 - which is what I would look for.
This assumes the shop won't take it all back.
It weighs a tonne so no idea about postage.
Sorry for sounding like eBay.
Does it come with an extra-large power supply that I can warm my hands on?
(...but seriously, bad luck - it's shitty to get something you've been looking forward to only to be disappointed)
Christ almighty - even I'd give it a bit longer than a day before giving up on it altogether.
Mind you, there's still a post-christmas shortage, so you might get more than you paid if you go for a quick sale - just tell everyone you love it to bits, but you've knackered your car and need cash fast. Or something.
tried it loved it
was amazed at the graphics.
wont be buying one until the modified versions become available though.
but to be honest. the ability to hot sync with my pc makes it ,must have device within the next 18 months.
I'm with the Bear- Ebay it immediately. Specify that it's for collection only and that way-
a) nobody will think that you're out to con them
b) there'll be no postage to worry about.
Nah, it would be hypocritical of me to eBay it - I moan about people who do that.
Will maybe keep it or else flog it to someone in my work.
Where you live?
Well you know, you don't HAVE to make money on it- you can always sell it as a 'buy it now'...
I've heard bad things about Perfect Dark - essentially that it was rushed to release, doesn;t do much with the graphics, is a bit bugged and poorly thought out in places, and lacks the charm of the first one. Which is a hsit because I really would love it to be as good as the N64 one.
Call of Duty on the other hand looks, and sounds, fantastic, and by all accounts is pretty lovely to play as well.
Hmmm - Now I'm wondering if I can pick up an old N64 on the cheap - used to love playing Golden Eye & Perfect Dark.
Well, it's on eBay. ?395 (cost) as a Buy It Now. Would do a link, but can't be bothered. My eBay identity is " nimeous " if you are interested.
Why's it so bad?
The Nintendo fanboy in me knows it's just a more powerful version of what has gone before so I'll be waiting for the revolutionary Revolution, but the 360 is surely a decent bit of kit, especially with the internet features, so giving up on it so soon seems odd...?
M@
good man.

Why is it so bad?
Well, technically it's not. It's just that I have played a few games now (Kameo, Project Gotham, Condemned, Project Zero) and they are all a bit "meh" to me.
I think the problem is I have a decent PC and there is no discenrable improvement in the games.
PGR looks lovely, but plays the same as the Xbox ones which I played to death. Condemned is okay but reminds me too much of FEAR, which I finished over Christmas. Kameo is... quite good actually, but very old school.
The thins is that I find it hard to justify the price I paid. I had saved up for one, and bought it as soon as I could, and now regret it. I think I'll buy one later on in the year (maybe this time next year) when there are more games (Halo 3, for example) and its cheaper. I'll stick with the PC mean-time.
However, if you don't have a high end PC or an Xbox then it is a good machine.
If I didn't have an XboX then I'd probably buy an XboX c/w games and then run that for a year and wait for the inevitable price drop on the 360, and also to see what Revolution and PS3 have to offer.
It's often (always?) the case with a new console that the games fail to take full advantage of the hardware - because the developers don't really know what it's capable of or how to take advantage of it's intricacies.
Give it a few months, even a year, and they'll know more about it, and therefore the games should improve (ie take advantage of the unique hardware).
Yeah most launch titles are poor as they're rushed to get them out on time. I was going to wait a year for this but 50 QUID a game??? Its like the bad old SNES days all over again but without the excuses.
50 quid? I know I'm Scottish, and therefore genetically predisposed to be mean with money, but christ on a scooter - that's daylight feckin robbery!
Fifty quid sounds steep, but if you do a bit of shopping around they can be had for forty or less. Try Play.com.
