I dont really buy many comics except tooth and the meg but saw this on Play.com and bought them.
The walking Dead
and
The Invisibles Volume 1.
Are they decent?
Both are pretty damn good, IMO, though you may find Morrison's work on The Invisibles a bit less accessible than The Walking Dead.
Thanks. Ive read the invisibles is quite in depth but i like something to get my teeth into.
Yeh Walking Dead is excellent - some great Charlie 'Savage' Adlard art in later issues too.
Not read 'Invisibles' but I read somewhere that GM was off his nut on Class A drugs at the time of writing it, and that it reads like it..
Walking Dead = Soap Opera with added zombies
The Invisibles = Conspiracy Theories with added LSD
I think both are bloody great in very different ways. Though I always felt Invisibles seriously loses it in the later books.
Thanks for the feedback. Just realised that there are quite alot of books to the invisibles. If i like it its gonna cost me a packet to collect the books.
Do the collections of The Invisibles contain the letters page where Grant asked we readers to, ahem, enjoy ourselves over a tatty sigil, and thus help improve sales? I suggest a picture of Victoria Zdrok would have been more successful.

The Invisibles is absolutely brilliant stuff. Morrison in excelsis.
Well, Book 1 (the first two TPBs, I think) is probably my favourite comic of all time. The subsequent volumes, where the tone was deliberately altered to aim for the more mainstream comic market, is still good but I do occasionally drift off into a bit of a reverie over what might have been.
You may find the second story in the book a bit heavy going, but it's well worth sticking with and you get the light relief of stuff like "Dead Man's Fall" afterwards. I think the second volume collects the various "origins" stories and has some fantastic moments. BUY BUY BUY.
I should also point out that I was bitterly (and quite unreasonably) disappointed when I read The Illuminatus books a couple of years later and found that Morrison had knicked whole chunks of it. It made me confused about who the Wachowskis ripped off for The Matrix.
I nearly bought the invisibles last week but decided to get v for vendetta and batman dark knight returns instead. (i know, where have i been!)so would be interested to see how you get on.
As for Walking Dead, I've read the first three collections and think they're excellent. Good characters and a story that is paced well. Although, saying that, you do get the feeling it could go on for ever and a day maybe !! It also has enough twists to keep you interested and the art is v good.
go zombies go !

Yep, definitely - and I hope it does! I particularly enjoy the issues where no-one gets bitten by zombies and the survivors aren't trying to kill each other. The day-to-day business of surviving the apocalypse is much more interesting to me than seeing a few pages of frenzied activity once a month, heaping loss upon loss on the shoulders of the long-suffering cast of characters.
Ive just finshed reading The Walking Dead. WOW! Absolutely class. The artwork is beautiful and the storyline is superb. The ending at the end of the first trade blew my head off lol. I ordered the second trade today. The invisibles is a little more in depth but im enjoying it lots. About halfway through the first trade.
