Is it me or is the second issue just ... meh?
No.
The first issue and the entire consept was Meh.
Warren Ellis should not write Super Heroes that he did not create.
He has no talent for using other people's characters. He always changes things simply to suit his vision.
But isn't that what new creators should do? Without that sort of artistic reinterpretaion we wouldn't have seen Moore's Marvelman or Swamp Thing, Morrison's X-Men, or Miller's Batman. Is there any point in writing existing characters and just retreading what's gone before. As long as they true to the characters in concept then I can't see the problem.
Alan! - who hasn't actually read the next wave stuff but the points the same as far as i'm concerned. :)
Alan - believe me, Nextwave shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Marvelman, Swamp Thing et al.
Its. Just. Not. AS. Good.
Nowhere near ...
So, any disaffected readers want to flog me the first two issues?
Or swap them for something else?
Poor old Fing Fang Foom didn't get much of a look in did he?
