SOLD!
To the funt who was sold by the cover.
(That's me.)
Oh, and I hear tell from the other site (Macbeth!) that Dom Reardon's first published painted work will also feature within the doomed and bloody pages of your mighty tome.
But tell me - how many of the 60 (damp and mouldy) pages are comic strip?
Most of them.
... this way comes
:)
Funt, barring the inside cover and inside back, it is all strip. 52 pages of solid strip.
bolt-01
52 pages of strip
+ inside back
+ inside front
=
54 pages.
What lurks in the mysterious missing 6 pages, controlled by an entity known only as... Max?
Shit, it is "Max", isn't it? The mad computer from Scream's 13th Floor strip? You know... Amstor's got his mouth as an icon. Or was it called "The Amstor Computer"? Maybe it was "Mad Max" I've got confused with.
Burble...
Actually the truth is even worse.
We've lost a strip, due to some serious stommin the life of an artist. We have reconfigured the title to 56 pages, but the ads weren't rejigged.
my bad.
Bolt-01
Heh. If theres one this FQ taught me it's don't count your strips until you've got the artwork in hand (and, if it's a computer file, you've opened it to make sure it isn't actually corrupted / the same page repeated / your previous assumptions about who was doing to lettering were wrong).
James -
Yup, Max was the computer from The Thirteenth Floor & it is his "face" I've got as my icon. The Amstor Computer was another Eagle strip - basically that comic's version of the Future Shocks, short-story-with-a-twist format where the titular computer gave the reader a new tale from its memory banks each week. I liked the name & loved the image, so I just mixed the two together when it came time to pick a new boardname.
Should you find yourself suddenly reading those six 'missing' pages as you read the comic, be very very afraid.
As well being from the team that brought you the SFX fanzine of the month, Something Wicked features art by the sublimely talented Dunk! Nimmo.

hmmm, this fella looks mighty familiar...
Bolt-01
Is that Dom's piece? Bloody gorgeous, anyway...
Lovely art from Duncan there and the colour pic by wotsisname is stunning.
It is bloody lovely...
That ventriloquist pic is amazing!
Can I just sign the register of interests before I cause disgrace to the party? I do have a strip in there, although I haven't loaned them any money.
But I've seen that and another painted pic so far and boy are they good. Shames any of the pro comics you'd find in the UK in the nineties.
I've got the originals for the last three panels of that strip. I'll have them with me in Bristol, before I hand them over to the strips author, so make sure you stop by for a peep. They are quite the most amazing work you could imagine.

I've got no vested interest in Something Wicked, and I think it looks astonishing. I'm not 100% sold on the cover, though I'll wait to see it in the flesh, but everything from inside, *especially* that Reardon piece, is glorious. How much of the mag is colour, then?

We've even tempted Ed Traquino into contributing before he fled the country.

Hey folks!
Look!
Pimping!

Collected a preview copy from the printer yesterday- and it looks fantastic!
Bolt-01
In all the rush to pimp new comics, I forgot to remind folk that Bristol will also see the launch of SOMETHING WICKED!
