Title: Ordering Rebellion GNs: What?s the problem?
Post by: GermanAndy on 31 March, 2006, 03:49:06 AM
As Amazon Germany couldn?t be arsed to place the new Nikolai Dante and the Cabs collections in their database, I ordered them in the UK.

My order at amazon uk was at 3d of February.

The Dante arrived this week - after 7 weeks!

The Cabs did not. I got a mail. Now it is another 2 weeks till they send it. Maybe.

This is ridiculous! I got stuff from Hongkong within a week.

What is the problem? Microscopic print-runs? The Inability of Amazon to obtain a GN in-country within 2 fucking month? Is this just foreign orders or this common?

I just saw that you can order directly here on the site. Is this a valid alternative?

I haven't used the Future Shop myself, but I'd certainly trust it more then Amazon at this point.

Rebellion trade distribution to non-comic retailers seems spotty at best. Heck the US doesn't get anything, it's a huge pain in the ass when Diamond forgets to send you something (like Robo-Hunter and DR & Quinch. *grrr*)

Your all lucky....

As I've been waiting for two months now for a confirmation on the Slaine Book of Invasions GN I ordered from Amazon in the UK. Only now they have dispatched it ( probably because the release date for it has been mysteriously pushed back till the 30th of this month.)

Anyway I still may have to wait another week or fortnight for it to arrive at my door. That's if I'm lucky Otherwise it's going to be stuck at customs and will most likely get probed and prodded for drugs hidden inside by the federal cops at the airport.

In the meantime, it was a week and half ago that I made arangements with a popular bookstore to get the same book in for me. They agreed as they found it on the UK website that they order from. ( I forget that name of that Bookstore.)

Well, while the one from Amazon in the UK has already beeen paid for. I am still doubtful of it's arrival. The problem here is that it was very expensive for me ordering the book this way.
I may not order from them in future.

 International mail is very slow.

The bookstore I made arrangements with told me that the book will be here in six weeks from the time I placed the order with them. They told me it will cost just over fifty dollars.(Australian) While the paying for the order from Amazon UK has been just over a hundred dollars. ( That money has also gone towards another book as well, if your wondering why I payed so much.)

So if that bookstore calls me up and tells me the book is ready for pick up I have to oblige them as I will be requiring their services in the future.

Feel your pain. Two months seems a minimum every time I order. Have yet to find a decent US distributor. I'd think Tharg's being from outer space would help him with a international view point in publishing.
