Had this recommended to me today, any good?
It follows the usual Ellis curve.
The bits currently collected in trades are excellent, and then it all starts getting a boit wobbly, with the last issue being a pretty crap rehashing of the plot so far.
Who's the fourth man...? Who cares...
The identity of the fourth man has got to be one of the least suprisinbg revelations in all of comics. I think Ellis once justified it with "It's so obvious the readers will never think of it!"
Has to one of the biggest 'is that it?' moments evah...
Ellis is pretty good at those:
/me gets to the end of Ministry of Space
"Nazi gold? And Racism in Space? Meh."
I really liked Planetary but I haven't read the last issue.
Dammit.
Blimey - stuff actually happens in the latest one, and it's actually good!
ive enjoyed what ive read of it

My thoughts exactly .What is Ellis "homaging" in this one?
New planetary this week - hopefully a good one.
IIRC It;s just this one and an epilogue to go...

Ah, I thought I might have missed this issue - keep losing track of when they're supposed to be coming out.
Though to be fair, I don't think Ellis generally has much more of a clue than I do...
I've so lost track of Planetary... largely because I seem to remember if went a bit rubbish. I'm sure I must have missed an issue or two along the way. I may have to wait for the gn of these last(?) few issues.
The stuff that Trouty leant me aaaaaaages ago (note to self: return Trout's GNs) was pretty good, but kinda lost track - is there a good 'jumping on' point recently that doesn't mean I have to buy the whole back catalogue?
About two issues back, around about the start of thsi thread in fact, they did a big story-so-far episode. That might be a good start point. They also did one about Issue #16. Also in general Planetary issues are reasonably standalone, though since this is the final episode wrap up it'll probably be a little hard to understand.
Personally I'd blow the money and buy the lot as trades. Theres usfficient goodness in there to make it worthwhile.
Ah right, probably an Xmas 'panic the parents by asking them to buy comic books' pressie then ;)
Cheers for that Arthur - did you get my e-mail the other day BTW?
um... maybe not. Possibly my spam filters are over active. Want to send me another and see if i get it?
Coolio. It's on its way ...
The first two tpb's are definately the better ones, though I still have a strange affection for the Batman crossover.
