There's been a bit of speculation over the future of Titan's British comics reprint line recently, but if these Amazon listings are correct it appears that at least these three series will be continued:
Modesty Blaise Vol. 10: Cry Wolf (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1840238690/qid=1144003237/sr=1-9/ref=sr_1_2_9/202-3229919-8090262)
Modesty Blaise Vol. 9: The Gallows Bird (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1840238682/qid=1144003347/sr=1-65/ref=sr_1_2_65/202-3229919-8090262)
Doctor Who Vol. 5: The Glorious Dead (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1905239440/qid=1144003247/sr=1-9/ref=sr_1_0_9/202-3229919-8090262)
Take all of these with the usual Amazon-sized pinch of salt, but their Titan & Panini listings have usually been correct, even if some details (release date, page count) are sometimes off.
How many Charley's War books are there likely to be then? Anyone got any idea?
The latest D.W.m. says that the next book is still on track for May, so hooray.
Good news. I've really been enjoying the Modesty Blaise collections. I've been meaning to pick up some of the Doctor Who collections but don't know if I can justify the expense. Do they come highly recommended? The only Who comics I've read previously are Abslom Daak.
Well some of the collections contain stories written by Steve Moore, who also wrote Daak, and they're pretty much on a par with Daak. The others are much better.
The first volume contains stories by Wagner, Mills, and Gibbons. That's all the recommendation anyone really needs.
The third volume contains what is considered by many to be the pinacle of who comicy goodness, 'Tides of Time' an excellent story which was better than any of the stories on the telly at the same time.
Volume 4 starts the more recent reprints and is a huge amount of fun, a linked series of stories with some lovely artwork from Martin Geraghty, a man whom Tahrg should consider giving a call.
Volume 5 is if anything better, it's certainly more focussed in it's story telling, despite being a much more sprawling tale with an epic feel.
Thanks. I think I'll definitely have to pick up the Wagner/Mills collection. Their seems to be a hell of a lot of decent reprints coming out at the moment it's getting a bit difficult to afford them all. I still haven't picked up case files#2 yet!
I'd be very surprised if you didn't enjoy the first collection. There are some stories that have become classics, and not for nothing did Pat , and I think John, end up being requested to pitch by the production office.
Good news on the Modesty Blaise & Charley's war front.
I'll still got to get round to trying some of the Bond & Who comics.
I hope that more Dan Dare,Spider,Steel Claw, etc will be released as they've all been great reads.
