Title: Future Rebellion series...?
Post by: Dark Jimbo on 21 April, 2006, 07:04:23 PM
Does anyone have any idea (Amstor and John O, I'm looking mainly at you) how many of the series that the DC line started off are going to get continuations? I'm talking about series like Strontium Dog, ABC warriors, Slaine, etc, that seem to have been suddenly sidelined. Any ideas/rumours?

I think we've been told that all those series will resume at some undefined (or unreleased) future point. I can't imagine that we'll never see them again.

That's what I suspected. I seem to remember hearing murmurings of Portrait of a Mutant arriving at some point.

I think Slaine (early stuff) is getting a 2nd volume at something like Jan 07.
I'd like to see more of what you listed plus Anderson & sometime soon.Dante,

For what it's worth, the 2000 AD books website should be getting a "coming soon" section in the not-too-distant, where I'll be adding upcoming titles, probably covering the next five or six months. As far as I'm aware, 2007's schedule isn't confirmed as yet.

I have a "coming soon" section on the books page at Touched by the Hand of Tharg, but I haven't heard anything more about ABC Warriors, Sin Dex or Anderson myself.

Don't hold me to the Slaine date.I asked about more Slaine on another thread and I think that was the round about date given.
I tried to find the thread again but couldn't,so knowing me my mind's misinformed me.

Hulloh

We will be doing more vintage Slaine in 2007. Strontium Dog: Portrait of A Mutant is out in December. There will be more ABC Warriors in '07 too.

Stay happy

Jon

Hooray! That's what I was after. Didn't want to commit to buying the first volumes only to find out the lines had essentially been abandoned.

But oh, god... The waiting....

It's good to hear that more Strony is on the way. To my mind, Alpha's death caused a gap in 2000 AD's that's never really been filled. Strontium Dog was the kind of series that could carry the Prog, if Dredd was duff. Therefore, it's great to know more books will be arriving?and here's hoping the series is reprinted fairly quickly (well, not Rogue Trooper quickly, but more frequently than one book per year). I'm especially looking forward to seeing the art combined with the books' new and improved production values. It's in some ways a bit of a shame a DC/Rebellion book already exists, but there you go.

More Sl?ine sounds good, and the gap there makes sense, seeing as the Titan stuff was still easy to get hold of until recently. (In fact, some of the hardbacks are still kicking around various places.) With the series being a complete run, it'll be good to see under-rated stuff like The Spoils of Annwn rubbing shoulders with Sl?ine the King.

ABC Warriors is a bit more "meh" for me. As far as I recall, post-Black Hole, the series descends into Mills' mid-'90s ranting about "khaos", rather lacking the fun of the more recent collections. Unless, of course, those colour series are going to be, ahem, "forgotten", with the books skipping forward until the more recent stuff!

That's excellent news Jon! Now the only thing I need is news of more Anderson collections and I'll be an extremely happy man!
