Gah, when did this happen!?
http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/eagles/
In the 'favourite black and white comic - British' book section is Solar Wind! Are there two Solar Wind's and I don't know about our evil doppleganger?
If anyone would like to vote for us, then that would be simple super.
I also noticed that Chris Blythe is up for top Colourist. To my mind this is more than deserved, he does some smashing work making the comic look glorious.
And Charlie's War has a chance to be voted for as well. I know it's not everyone's favourite strip, but it is the very best of the British War comics, has achingly beautiful art and has to be one of the best kids comic strips ever.
You can also vote for Tharg and his weirdo droids on several other columns too.
Cheers folks, I'm having a good but scary day already getting Omnivistascope II together to send of to printers!
Paul
Congrats to Cosmic Ray.
If vote-rigging is good enough for the President of America, it's good enough for me.
Off I go to pad out the ballot - anyone care to join me?
No... please don't say things like that. Vote for it if you want for, if you don't, don't.
It'd be nice to win, but that's all.
The other nominess are Spring Heeled Jack and Freak Show (I've never read this one, no doubt I'll give it a go at Bristol).
I wasn't suggesting multiple entries, just making a casual voting-reference that everyone would get. I only voted once - which is one vote more than the average African-American got if he lived in Florida, etcetera, etcetera...
They're all multiple-choice entries, anyway, and some are no-brainers. Favourite writer - Grant Morrison or Geoff "a rape will spice this story up" Johns. Hmmm - tough one...
I've voted.
Depressingly, it seems to be an American list with a couple of "special needs" British comics catgeories tacked on. PVS, if you win, please insist on doing a speech, with slides, showing why British comics are great...
(Or make sure your mob turn up on time to the ceremony, anyway).
done you gots my vote
interesting message i got when i voted
"Thanks for submitting your vote for the 2004 Eagle Awards!"
brilliant!
Well done PVS!
Ditto on the well done. Picked up the first Freakshow collection in Dublin on Saturday - stylish, interesting. Shame it's not the same artist through the whole book.

And the winner of the "special needs" British comics catgeory is....
I appreciate it's a light-hearted comment, Mr Superking, but it only takes someone to quote you and it suddenly doesn't look as funny.
Anyway, nice to be nominated.
If anyone wants to be a part of a minor solar wind project for the Bristol comics festival, I need pictures of people reacting in horror to huge invisible 20ft B-Movie monsters. So far I've had zero entries, so at this stage, anything is welcome.
It can be group shots of people, or people on their own, running, screaming, holding their arms up in a futile attempt to defend themselves. Some near famous landmarks would be nice, but I'll take anything, no matter how domestic.
Cheers
Paul
lets not allow this board to go to such lower standards of comedy please.few of here have such **specail needs** members of the family.
but WELL DONE COSMIC RAY.anyone got a link to vote for this. if it is possible i feel we should do all we can to make this nomination a winner.
all the hard work and effort being given such acknowledgement. truly great.
Apologies DD.
No need to start a campaign, if it won, I'd only feel I'd have to do more work to justify it :p
As for the british comics being tacked on, actually I think they've done the UK/underground/indie press/small press a big favour by sidestepping that issue and just having a B/W british comics catagory and treating small press entries as just 'comics'. If you look at the American B/W section, you're looking at Love and Rockets, the walking dead etc. So I'm not complaining, and I bet the other guys voted for aren't.
DD & PVS, hope you're not too offendedby my comment, that really wasn't the intention. I only meant to say that, by having British comics only in their own sections, the organisers seem to be saying that British comics can't compete on a world stage - quite literally, they have a have to be helped as though they have special needs. Absolutely no disrespect was intended to children or other people with special needs.
I wans'nt offended, I understood what you meant, and it was me who made a joke out of it.
Paul, we're not enough to swing the vote (or are we?). Well done...and I'll send you a piccy of me running from the Bees From Mars later...
If you win, can you stand back and let Gary steamroll towards the stage (hurling women and small children aside in the process) and collect the award on your behalf? Only it was really funny last time.
Cosmic Ray - many congratulations on the nomination! It is well deserved!
It triggered a massive internal dilemma... Should I vote for Solar Wind (to which I have contributed) or Freakshow (which is written by one of my mates)? I love them both!
So I guess it comes down to this: who's going to offer me the best bribe?
-- Mike
You'll get nothing from me, Mike and that goes double for Ray!
Nah, just vote for who you want to, it's okay with me (just don't tell me which choice you make or I might voodoo you).
I'm *really* pissed off I accidentally threw out the Solar Wind award video with Gary accepting the award, I distinctly remember saying 'eh? what's this then, ah who cares, in the bin'.
I need it for a dodgy video documentary (nay, solarmentary - etc.) I intend to try to make at bristol. Which reminds me, anyone wants to talk shite about british comics, small press, solar wind or pretend to be soemone you're not, then why not let me film it :p
I was and still am grateful to Gary for accepting the award last time, it's not something I would have wanted to do myself had I been there. And I suspect nobody else would have had the balls to do it :p
For similar reasons I was relieved when I came third in a *national franchise name deleted* manager of the year competition and didn't have to go up and say something interesting about *national franchise name deleted*.
Nobody had the balls to get in Gary's way, that's for sure!
;)
Voted, but I'll not say who for...

>lets not allow this board to go to such lower standards of comedy please.few of here have such **specail needs** members of the family.
surely people with special needs have as much right to have the mickey taken out of them as anyones else?
some please put up the link.
i wish to vote,i truly hope our efforts will see rewards being made to those amongst us whom have worked so hard.
its only fun to make fun of others whom are able to defend themselves. LOGAN.
ok im a fool.
but anyway,. for other fools.
Link: go here, vote for solar wind, and 2k of course.
Does this also mean that I'm a bad person for referring to anyone in a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair as "Davros"?
Ahh..wils, wils, wils...I'm glad I drink my coffee BEFORE I read anything you post...splutter, splutter, splutter...
Wils: it seems to okay.

There's a fantastic quote from an episode of Family Guy, which goes along the lines of:
"We're here today for the Special People's Games, where we're hoping to see some thrills, spills and - who knows - maybe some unintentional laughs along the way. And by the end of the day, most of you will be going to hell."
I intend to try to make at bristol. Which reminds me, anyone wants to talk shite about british comics, small press, solar wind or pretend to be soemone you're not, then why not let me film it :p
anyone know if pat mills will be there. he could be just the ticket.
