Title: Dom Reardon painted cover
Post by: Wake on 17 May, 2006, 05:53:15 PM
I've just put this cover on eBay. I'm selling it on Dom's behalf and if it doesn't go I'll probably buy it for myself.

Apparently Jock suggested changing the background to red, which is why the published colour scheme is different.

Cheers,

Wake

I could afford that if I spent most of the holiday money I've saved up this year...and a week away isn't resellable...

No, be strong.

Dom can really paint well, as anyone who bought something Wicked, with it's painted back cover by the man himself will attest.

Bolt-01- pimping again...

I was wondering if you were selling it for Dom due to the price being a tad over what you were talking about before ;)

Quite a fair bit of nice artwork floating around these days isn't there. Nice to know that the artists are realising their works cash in hand value!

Gorgeous, and I'd be seriously tempted but all my "art account" cash is tied up in a lovely Doctor Who piece Charlie Adlard has just finished for me.

If you mean why is more than ?30 then the reasons are:

1) It's a cover
2) It's fully painted
3) It's a cool image
4) Caballistics is a well liked series
5) It features all the major characters
6) Dom Reardon covers are extremely rare
7) Dom doesn't usually paint
8) I'm selling it for Dom so I'd like to see him get a good price for it
9) I'd like to keep it myself so the starting bid is a little bit higher than my max bid would be.
10) The 'early bird discount' on the auction means that someone could have ended up buying it for up to ?19 off the starting bid.
11) It was a 5p listing day and so it needed to be more than ?100 to avoid being lost in the middle of FatBoyDale's auctions.

Cheers,

Here's what my girlfriend had to say on the subject:

Hmm, it's not my cup of tea. It's also very expensive. But if you really want it, you should just get it- though be prepared for it not being given 'pride of place' in the event of us ever living together!

Well I'm going to buy a lottery scratchcard tomorrow just in the hope that I win enough to buy it.

It's great logic the way I see it, if I buy the card for the specific reason of hoping to win enough to buy the painting in the unlikely event I do actually win I don't have to feel guilty for not spending the money on the many much more sensible things I need.

So all I need to do is win some moolah now *fingers crossed*
