well okay it would have been more exiting if i'd been home n felt it, eldest daughter said it was like a lorry crashing outside, whole house shuddered, banged then creaked.
apparently it was at 12.23, where i was at doctors surgery with mini-bou, maybe the fact that that buildings on reclaimed bog ground ? dunno whereas my house is right on a mini fault thrust plate zone.
other folks reported long low rumbles later on at 2pm.
joly exiting. & my mate is all full of it cos he's splattered across papers & internet about it.

mad!
It's like that movie(thwe name escapes me) !Except the fairground that gets flattened is probably more like the one on Craggy Island, spinning cat etc
fairground ? i had enough trouble getting a playground built here from complaining pensioners " we don't want to encourage children hanging around ".. a fair ground ? ! no chance.

excellent quote in the This Is North Scotland link: ""It had sounded like an explosion. I was a bit concerned, so we all ran outside. I knew my brother's girlfriend was in his house nearby, so I ran in to see if she had blown something up."
there's clearly a story behind this girlfriend somewhere, and one that would be interesting to hear...
Oddly enough- I thought I felt that in the night, but just assumed I was dreaming (and probably was).
the girlfriend is a singer whos doing alright for herself, regardless of opinions of her music, Ollie clearly doesnt rate her cooking or homekeeping skills much.
very entertaining earthquake anecdotes now circulating around village, The posties "first time the earth moved for him" etc

Reminds me when I was a kid staying with my Granny in Omagh, in Tyrone N.I.
The IRA bombed the pet shop across the river while we were outside playing football.
(I know!I think they thought the goldfish were 'orange bastards' or something)
The ground shook. We'd never experienced anything like it. When we went to see what had happened a couple of local lads were laughing saying "who farted?"
A lesson was learned that day.
Something about laughing (childishly)in the face of adversity..
or something
"I thought I felt that in the night"
What were you doing in Bou's house in the middle of the night?
"I know!I think they thought the goldfish were 'orange bastards' or something"
HA! HA! HA!
Nice one!
I'm sure Floyd laughs at your feeble earthquakes having lived in Japan...
