Knowing that there are several Tool fans around here (Mr Spurrier!), has anyone else taken a look at the artwork for the new album 10,000 days?
In these days of the download, for a band to spend (what must have been) a small fortune on a concept like the one used for the packaging is great! I've owned the album since the day of release, and I'm still not bored of staring through the specs at the 3d images - I've never come across 3d like this (spectroscopic?) and I must admit I've been blown away by it.
Not to mention it's the bands bassist who designed the bleedin thing (Adam Jones, who also does the videos and live footage)!
Seriously, if you dont own this album, go and have a look at it!
It's also very good musically.....

top albumn, got it a couple of weeks ago. I like all this extra pakaging and shit theyre giving you now might stop some people downloading by making the cover actually do something.
dont like this downloading mac'guffin nothing beats actually having the item in your hands, spliting the shrink wrap...mmmm, smell the freshness.

Best band in the world and this is they're best album yet I reckon. I could listen to Tool until my ears fell off. Tightest live band on the planet too, nothing and I mean NOTHING gives me chills like seeing Danny Carey play the drum fill to end all drum fills in "46&2". The artwork is fantastic, they've always made an effort there, although this time round the packaging was so elaborate that the manufacturers had trouble keeping up with demand from stores. I could probably talk about Tool until other people's ears fall off too so will stop typing now.
Ooooh but props to Adam Jones for being a multi-tasking motherfucker, not only the videos and the artwork, but he can play guitar and trigger synth pads at the same time with his feet. Bastard. This time I'm actualy going to stop typing.
Just in case there was any doubt as to which drum fill I was referring to...

Best album of the year, so far!
Also heard theres to be a new NIN album before the years out?
Anyone know any more on that one?
I know when "With Teeth" came out he said he had another album's worth of stuff ready to go and that he wasn't going to make it another 6 year wait, so there's probably some truth in that. I'm all excited now.
Now you're on to my mastermind subject... NIN.
At the moment, they're still touring America (they're in Cleveland) but Trent Reznor has hinted that the next album will be out before the end of the year, and that it will be more.... electronic than With Teeth - but it will still be as raw....
He's also trying to wrok out the legal stuff around releasing Closure on DVD and a Special Edition of Pretty Hate Machine - just like he did with Downward Spiral.
Back to TOOL though - I watched them at Download - first time I'd seen them live (though I did catch APC last time they toured) - WHAT A SHOW. Rosetta Stoned is amazing live - as is all the new stuff.
Been lucky enough to see Tool twice, it's annoying that they tour once every few years! Saw APC a few times though, they were also a damn tight ship. Maynard has now said that he considers APC to be done and dusted and he'll be solely focussing on Tool, so without the couple of years it took him to record, promote and tour an APC album, Tool should be around a lot more frequently now(hopefully).
