Another scientist joins the race to replace humans ..
Geminoid is a remote-control doppelganger droid designed by and modeled after Hiroshi Ishiguro, professor at Osaka University and researcher at ATR Intelligent Robotics and Communication Laboratories. See, the only thing that's not genius about that is the name "Clocky".

If it's anything like alarm clocks I've had in the past, I'd probably just go back to sleep and ignore it until the batteries died.

Clocky does actually sopund like a suggestion from Dave Gorman's excellent Radio 4 show. Other suggestions include:
Bovril as a fizzy drink.
Helium filled Bubble Wrap (to save money on postage and packing)
Parking meters as fruit machines.
Perforated bread.
Tetris: The movie.
Combat rising sea levels by hunting more whales.
Running the House of Commons by the rules of Just A Minute.
Metal detector suspended under your dog.
Breathalysers on your mobile phone to stop you from making regrettable calls.
Hooking up gym equipment to feed the national grid.
Suggestions currently being taken for the forthcoming series:
