Title: Dead Rising Demo
Post by: James on 06 August, 2006, 02:53:04 AM
Any 360ers out ther might be interested to know that a Dead Rising Demo is now available on the LIVE Marketplace.

The only thing is you have to change your locale settings to U.S. to access it. 1014MB 15 min demo.

Downloading now will report back once i've had a bash(pun).

We downloaded this at work yesterday and the lounge was noisy for the rest of the afternoon.
So much fun, An amazing assortment of props you can use to put the zombies down. The coolest i've used so far is the Katana as it slices them clean in two. The funniest....hard to choose, the shopping cart is great for cutting through huge packs, the golf club is fun for long distance action. I'm also a big fan of heating the frying pan up and pressing it into their faces. Putting the large lego heads on to the zombies and watching them stumble around is great.
It'll be interesting to see how the game plays with missions etc or if it will be more open ended and let you just have as much fun as you want.
Cheers,
Adam

Truly stunning!
Fave weapons so far are the bowling ball and the cans of pop, although theres a pretty nifty baseball bat hidden in one of the bins around the mall.
This games gonna shine online!!

"The coolest i've used so far is the Katana"
Ooh not found that yet, where is it?

Well done for bringing this one up James.

This works on UK accounts too BTW

Fantastic demo.

I hope it does have a good mission structure.

That combined with a sandbox Zombie slaughter Shopping Mall.. what's not to love?

My favourite so far has been the toy shop.  Putting comedy heas on as many as possible and then getting photo's to get a a good "outtake" rating, the slaughtering them and re-shooting to get a good horror rating.

If you find a female , and pile her on top.. you get an "erotica" rating..  eeeewwwwwwww.

Looks like a hit from Capcom to me.

To find the Katana you have to be in the large food court area upstairs. One of the window like openings that overlooks the downstairs mall will have an orange awning below it, The katana is lying on that.

Adam

Misread the title of this thread as 'Rising Damp Demo', which would be a surreal game if ever made.

I keep getting all of these X-bOx links. X-box is one console I don't own.

I take it the demo should then only work on X-Box with one of those network capabilities.

The demo, and the game i believe, is xbox360 only.

Excuse me whilst i stroke my xbox and grin, smugly...

Argh, I've been hugely excited about Dead Rising and then the same weekend the demo becomes available is the same weekend my 360 breaks down and gets taken away for repair!!!! Therefore haven't played it yet but judging from the posts here it's every bit as good as it looks.

my 360 broke too.  in a way i was glad as i felt that the replacement, being a later one, would hopefully have the issues ironed out.

Fingers crossed hey.

Careful. Stroking it's likely to break it, the same way that breathing near it will. ;)

This is the only game on the 360 that would make me contemplate buying one.
I really haven't been impressed with the games that have been released so far.
One of the plus points of working in Video Games is that the company buys a shedload of new releases for us to check out so i may just play it at work after hours.

Cheers,
Adam

So do you need a X-box to play the demo?

I don't think it's worth the download if it's only 15 minutes of play.

Thryllseeker, You need an XBox 360 to download the demo.
It is a 15 minute per session time limited demo. This isn't a problem though as you'll usually get eaten by zombies before that if you play with the same reckless abandon that i did.
As soon as the 15 mins is up...start again, that's what we did on Friday......all afternoon.

Cheers,
Adam

Oh so the game can be played indefinitly ( Though some will only have fifteen day trial.)but only at fifteen mintue intervals.

I don't own a X-box, so I can't play it.

There's a preview for this game in this month's Edge, and I must say it looks the tits. A little annoying as the only NG platform I'm considering getting is the Wii, but this and Halo 3 may convince me otherwise. Damn you Microsoft!

The sooner there's only ONE gaming platform the better I say!

I have grown to love the 360, the games are good what little I've played, the demos and marketplace stuff are great, and being able to stream music and pictures from your PC is fab (and movies too if you have a XP Media Centre PC).

Post by: Something Fishy on 07 August, 2006, 10:48:33 PM
Yeah i love the media centre stuff as well Wod.

rad: does Mass Effect not appeal too?  That looks ace.

I am just now playing jade Empire (xbox game works on 360) and it is just ace. Only cost me a tenner.  Bioware make great games.

Haven't heard of Mass Effect. I'll have a look online. Also read in Edge that Half Life 2 will come out on 360 and PS3, and will include HL2: Episodes 1+2 and Team Fortress 2 as bonuses, which is a tempting package

I'm playing Lord of The Rings:BAttle for Middle Earth 2(god what a mouthfull) on my 360 and enjoying that at the moment, I' dont have a PC at home so I'll play any stratagy I can get my hands on it just so happens that this is a good one.  One of these days I might get online with damn thing and play all these yank kids i hear about.
Cant wait for Dead Rising too, like the idea that you can choose to save or leave victims to their fate depending on what sort of photo you want and like the idea of the time cycle in the full game sounds like lots of replayability.

Fishy, I thought Mass Effect looked stunning too. Don't usually like RPGs but the sci fi angle has sold it to me. Another great sci fi game for 360 is Prey which I loved.

If you havent already done so, download the demo for Lost Planet.
Possibly the most stunning game ive ever seen!
That and Fight Night 3.

Lost Planet Demo is nice...

What I really want though is a bloody patch to play Rogue on the 360...

Keef.. yep that sci fi setting looks ace.

I am loving Jade Empire.. they are so good at RPG's.

A bioware RPG set in a sci-fi setting and looking amazing. it's going to rock.

Prey I: i have that and like it too.

Battle for middle earth. I want to try it but am likely to rent it first.  Though i do like these types of games, and the demo seems to show they've made it work on console.

The HL2 package looks great doesn't it.

As wooly says.. Lost Planet.. just wow.

Capcom.. are they giving the 360 some love or what!!

Loved the look of Lost Planet but wasn't really sold on the gameplay, I'm sure if I spent a bit of time on the full game it would grab me. Meant to ask Fishy, when your 360 broke did they send a guy to take it away for repair? And if so did they let you know when he was bringing it back or did he just turn up with it? I miss my baby.

Keef:

I had to box it up and put a label on it that they emailed to me.

I then called UPS to arrange the collection on a day i was a home.

When MS receive it you get an email.  you get another to confirm they are working on it.

You finally you get another with a tracking ref when the dispatch it.

It's annoying when things break but i found their service top class.

My xbox 1 did the same thing and they were just s efficient.

Ah right cheers! The guy picked it up, will just have to sit tight I guess. Kicking it old school with Max Payne on PS2 to pass the time, oh the last generation nostalgia!

Played Tomb Raider on the 360 last night. What a load of pants. Confusing camera angles, akward map layout, stupid controls... it's just like the original on the PC.

I didn't even finish the first level.

ANd the noise, the noise!, of the machine. Doesn't that put anyone off? If I wanted a helicopter taking off under my telly then... well. you get the idea.

Seriously, my wife thought someone was using a dustbuster but it was just the 360.

Mine's set up in my hallway next to my PC with a cable going through to the lounge TV via a switch box to the PC monitor.

It's great for playing in the lounge, slouching on the sofa but if the missus wants to watch TV I can play it on the monitor.

Lush.

I rented and played Tomb raider last week.

It was OK but, as you say, awkward at times.

System noise.. i had that with my first.  The replacement is much better.

bah, no fan of the last Tomb Raider, way better than the last 4 or so but still not up to the quality of Prince of Persia, now there's some 3D tomb raiding thats worth the effort.

Well, I'm enjoying Tomb Raider (each to their own I guess).  Working through the first level got me used to the controls, and now, apart from some issues with getting Lara lined up properly for jumps, I'm enjoying it and can imagine replaying it once finished (unheard of for me).

Machine is a bit noisy though.
