So on saturday I went to my first anime convention in Baltimore, MD....Otakon. Now I heard the attendance was huge but I wasn't ready for volume of Con goers I was ready to encounter. In the lobby of the Baltimore Convention Center there was have been a thousand screaming, yelling, fanatic fans. I stood one level up thanking god I stood where I was. Not bore you with minor details. One of the strangest things I saw was the Crossplayer. its when a male or female dress a comic, anime, manga, or literary character of the opposite sex. I walked in the mens room and saw a femaleat the sink with here head down. I said out loud "Am I in the wrong place?!?!" Backed out, nope theres the little guy indicating Mens Room. I stepped back in, walking towars me was a guy dressed as a Sailor Scout. I had seen more male crossplayers during the day.
Then there was the Gamers Room. A large wharehouse type place, filled with TVs and different game platforms.
Next was the dealers room. Here I bought a grab bag. Cost me $20, and I felt like I was ripped off, it was filled with the junk the guy could sell otherwise. I bought 3 anime, the cost $10. Was it worth it, yep, the first two were funny the third was a snooze fest. I'm really getting into the trading figures, I bought two for $3 each.
I'll have picture as they develop.

I think you'll find the correct term is "Narutards," Critter.

LOL...why "Narutards"??
My best friend is the director of AWA (Anime Weekend Atlanta). Naruto doesn't get a whole lotta love from the locals. :)

I saw a whole lot of Narutos but never had any runins with them. Really extreme or something??

Not wishing to be a pedant but its
cosplay (from costume play).
The creepiest one I found is Sabrina - odd in a Frank Sidebottom way but down right disturbing when you realise its actually a guy (there is a section showing his costume and the strapping required!!
The only upside I can see is that it makes the worst nerds at sci-fi conventions not look quite so silly - I'm still unsure if this is a good thing or not.
