Title: Lancaster Comic Con - 28th October
Post by: paulvonscott on 06 October, 2006, 11:32:26 AM
Due to various things such as not knowing which Saturday I'd be working, I haven't booked for this.  Are many people from hear going?  I'm just wondering as I may e-mail and see if there's still time to get a table.

Cheers

Paul

I think I booked that weekend off and it's not too long a haul so I'll probably be there. Again, depends who else is in attendance.

i'll be popping along mainly due to the fact that it's improbably in the north and doesn't involve 10hrs of driving

You mean you're not picking me up on the way?

Pffft- fuck you then...

Well, that's 3 people I know going and Timson isn't, count me in!

Dohhhh... I'm just kidding.

E-mailed the guy to see if I can still book a place, I need something to gear me up for making more comics.

i thought you'd want to announce your participion yourself with a flourish... ;)

yes, i will be accompanying mr timson at said event, although i'm pretty sure i won't be picking him up as such (as york - midlands - lancaster is a pretty messy driving triangle), more co-ordinating some equidistant location

i suppose it depends if he's bringing johnny eyebrows with him - he's the more persuasive (and violent) of the timson twins

I'm not going to this (too far north for this southerner) but I would hate to deny Lancaster the thrill of Zarjaz!

Would anyone who is booked up have a little space on their table for the Galaxy's Greatest Fanzine? I would be willing to pay a contribution toward the table costs or possible swap with anyone not going to Birmingham in December.

Not sure if this will sway anyone, but I've just heard that John Ridgeway will be in Lancaster tomorrow.

Now that is goodfor me as I've never met him before, and a Luke Kirby sketch would be sweet.

Yaaaay!  Had a great time.

Firstly, sorry that not everyone could make it, would have been great to see you.

Got to chat to Brian Talbot and John Ridgeway and get some stuff signed.

There was a great moment when John Ridgeway, failing to see the horrified strangled look in my eyes, flattened down the cover of my mint condition Dead Man titan book with the palm of his hand to sign.  Gnnngh!  Heh heh...

Met and chatted to loads of people I knew from the small press scene, and got to talk to more still.  Met people I knew only from the internet, people who'd done stuff for solar wind that had previously just been e-mails.

From the board there was Bolt, Olly (and Mary), Merlin and Monkey-something.  Got talking to one couple and found out they lived in the village next to mine, 5 minutes drive away.  Small world.

The event was small, but in an amazing location in this huge folly building at the summit of a park.  It was very well organised and I did surprisingly very well for a show that size.  Well done, Ant.

Had a great time, got there and back in one piece, and I drank a red bull on the way home, which counts for this long enthusiastic post!

Great stuff :)

"Brian Talbot and John Ridgeway"

Who is this person? Or did you meet Bryan Talbot?

Enquiring minds demand to know!

Cheers

"Watch it, Cambell."

Are you sure you didn't meet Stan Ridgway?

"Oh-Oh-Oooh-Oh

This was an awfully big Marine."

Cheers!

Yes, Jim, I spelt Brian with an I, not a Y.

Which doesn't, in the grand scheme of things, really matter.

Though I'll never forgive Fraser Urving for mis-spelling my name on a page of art I'd bought.

Don't wish to be pedantic... but you missed the 'p' in Campbell, too.

Unless, of course, you deliberately meant to take the p. ;-)

He didn't spell it 'Brnut' did he? That sort of thing can you get you banned from certain forums, I hear ...

Worse than that...oh much worse than that...

He put...

To Dave!

I remain, sir, a David and proud of it.

You are David Bishop, and I claim my five pounds.

Cheers!

I'm not DavidXBishop, and nor is my wife, but he's a sound man for rejecting the easy way of letting people call you Dave. It's a slippery slope.

Anyway, it was a good festival whoever was there and however their names were spelt, as I'm sure we'll hear from others that were there :)

Goodnight...

Oh dear.

PVS was right in that it was a great little con. Ant Mercer did a good job of organising and re-organising the event on the day.

It was lovely to be at a con with so many kids! Shame I had no product to sell them...

Is Product a slang term for some of the old bolivian marching powder.
