Post by: Marbles on 21 October, 2006, 11:15:54 PM
How come you can even buy an 'Art of Commando' Calendar these days but not a 2000AD one ???

I suggest they make pictures bigger than covere size with no added text so people can cut them up for posters afterwards :p

This is a good idea- they could even save money by producing it from already existing artwork, rather than commissioning new ones, like the postcards (but with different pics). If it made any cash, the next one could be new pieces.
Or how about stand out covers from that year, gathered at the end of the year, and released for Xmas in a calendar for the following year?

Ones for individula 2000Ad characters or a generic 2000Ad calendar.

And they can take the pics from the women of Dredd thread as well to save time ;)

Never mind an art of 2000AD calendar, I think we should have an art of 2000AD book.

Produced in the same style as the Preacher Dead or Alive book with classic covers reproduced uncumbered with logos or cover lines.
There has been so much good material produced over the years, they could also include the Eagle Comic covers produced by Bolland et al, along with  some of the original 80's Titan Book covers.

It would make a lovely companion piece to Thrill Power Overload for next years big 30th!

Would anybody else purchase this if produced?

I wouldn't pay a penny for it, but I'd salivate over a friend's copy.

Not only would I but a copy of such a book or calendar, I'd seethe with jealousy for the lucky chaps who get the job of picking the covers and artwork to go into them.

It would be great to see, particularly if they can source the original art.

I'd love to see the ABC Warriors painted centre spreads reproduced for one.

Nice to see such a positive response. Maybe we could get a poll up on the front page so people could vote for it, that way we can show Jon O and the Powers That Be that there is a market for such a book.
I'm only a part time boarder so don't know how to set a poll up. Could somebody else do the honours?!

BTW, forgot to say yesterday, yes I would buy a calendar if produced.
I don't know if anybody has got a copy of the 1989 Judge Dredd calendar produced by Titan, but the dates on there correspond with 2006. I have been using it again this year. Ocotber has a lovely reproduction of Brian Bollands cover for Cursed Earth vol 1 released in 1983!
