...but constructively please. This, unfortunately, wasnâ??t drawn by me seeing as Iâ??ve all the artistic talent of road kill. However one of my mates, knowing Iâ??ve a bit of a thing for the Meltdown Man storyline, drew this for me.
Heâ??s asked me to put it on the board for feedback, be it good, bad or what-ever.
;)
Cheers,
Rob.
Well I don't know much about art, but I know what I like and this is very nice.
The wolf Yujee is perfect and the bull is pretty nice too. The girl is lovely, but she does just look like a girl to me, with no real hint of cat about her.
From the waist up Stone is ace but I don't like his ballet pants and his legs get a bit wonky around the knee.
The background detail and the shading between the figures - putting Stone in the spotlight - is very nice too.
In short, if I could draw half as well I'd be happy. I'm sure some pros will be along soon with more considered views.
Yeah, I agree with Cosh. It's great - but not perfect - but if I could draw that well I'd be doing it too.
I'm an ignoramous when it comes to critiquing (sp?) art, but - I think the girl and the flowers and the patterns all look fantastic - the wolf and the bull are okay (but rough in comparison) and Stone looks wonky - out of proportion.
It's the final scene from Meltdown Man, IIRC.
'I think the girl and the flowers and the patterns all look fantastic - the wolf and the bull are okay (but rough in comparison)'
I agree. The image is a bit unbalanced due to the excess of detail on the left hand side, nice though it is. If there was an equal amount of detail in the right side, the image would look more coherent. The anatomy on the central character isn't entirely convincing, and his posture makes it look as if he is hunched over (intentional?) I also think the composition would benefit if he were bigger in the image, and located more centrally. Just IMO of course.
Having said all that, there's much to like in the image.
Would I be right in thinking this guy designs tatoos?
Is it a biro sketch or pencils?
Oh fuck...if that's a tatoo design then DON'T DO IT ROBBIE!
Surely anyone looking for Belardinelli-inspired body modification would go for the full blood eagle?
Unless I've got it all wrong and that was McMahon.
"Would I be right in thinking this guy designs tatoos?"
Exactly right mate! That's what he does for a living. Was it the celtic (?) symbols above and below Liana that gave the game away?
"Is it a biro sketch or pencils"
It's oth!
Cheers,
Rob.
Ps - below is what he did to me a few years(4)ago! Relax DXB there are no MM tattoo.
"Is it a biro sketch or pencils"
It's BOTH!
And,yes, i am aware i'm openning up a whole can of worms by posting that photo!
Cheers,
Rob.
There's nothing wrong - per se - with a MM tatoo...that would be going a bit far though.
You do indeed remember correctly, Dumblad me lad...
And,yes, i am aware i'm openning up a whole can of worms by posting that photo!
Robby: Does that Tat translate as "Kick Me!"?
;-)
It was supposed to say "Julie" but the tat-bloke was pished.
Any more?
I'm sayin' nuthin - he looks BUFF and more than capable of openin' up a can o' wup ass!
Feel free to critisise...
I can't believe it's taken this long ot mention your spelling...
"Robby: Does that Tat translate as "Kick Me!"? "
Thanksfully it doesn't say "kick me" or any such thing ;)
It's the Japanese translation of my sons name. Confirmed by none other than the boards elder statesman Floyd who ,apart from actually living in Japan at he time i had this done (Floyd not me), also had a much better and more reliable way of confirming that this tat says exactly what it should do! So if anybody actually cares (?) do you wanna have a stab at guessing what it really says?
"I can't believe it's taken this long ot mention your spelling..."

I'm not sure how 'celtic' the tattoo squiggles are. Regardless of any supposed connection with antiquity, modern tattoo art has a life of its own, and assimilates design tropes from eclectic sources, which might as easily be Chinese or Maori as European. Robby's mate's doodles remind me of Tan Eng Huat's artwork on vol. 3 of Doom Patrol. Tan Eng Huat is Malaysian, but I don't know where his inspiration comes from. Can't find any representative images, but I did find a sample: squiggles most in evidence in the decoration on that fella's red coat.
