Oi, Green Bonce!
I'm sure there's a lot of detail about the 30th birthday celebrations you don't want to tell us yet, because you want to tease us/ haven't got round to organising it, but is there any chance of dropping a heavy hint as to the date such celebrations might occur? My diary's filling up fast, and I daresay others could do with some notice to avoid double-booking misery.
Oh, and Happy New Year ;)
It's going to be difficult for me to book fo february already, though I'll try my hardest to make it.
A more cynical Squaxx may see this as a deliberate attempt to keep the 30th Anniversary celebrations for creators and the 'elite' as much as possible...
Yeah, it's getting a bit late in the day for me also.... not going to make it if we only get a few weeks notice.
I also get the impression it will be left to last moment to keep numbers down (but why if they're gonna charge entry?... more people = more money)
But then again no reason to anounce as soon as possible, giving us who have to travel time to book time off work, flights, babysitters, female escorts etc....
Maybe they're just very badly organised and actually don't know what's going to happen yet.
And who are the 'elite'?
Conspiracy theorys here please!!
Wils is definitely one of the elite - he only posted that to throw the baying crowds off his scent.
He's also one of the secret cabal that rule the message board - but then you already know that, don't you ... Grand Master Umpty!
Muh-ha! Muhahahaha!
(Slow day at work.)
..don't make this a GOR thread.
Hi guys.
Firstly, I'm sorry that you haven't been updated on this sooner. We had another party involved in arranging the event and hoped to make an annoucement in early December, but things fell through last minute. We will still have an event, but it will be pushed back a few months.
Please bear with us; I will give you as much advanced notice as I can.

Cheers Keef.

No worries, I'm not at my best during Februaries anyway.
Oh and could you tell me when my subscription is due to run out?
Haha- beat me to it!
Is the minibus trip to Keef's house still on?
;)
I thought subscriptions were renewed automatically unless you tell them not to.
That actually works out better for me, an extra few months to gather the groats together and get some other stuff out of the way.
Thanks for the info K33F.
Bugger, bugger, bugger, bugger!
Without knowing a date, It's less and less likely that I'll be able to come.
And I'd gotten special permission from Mrs Dane to attend-
Money, booking time off, booking flights, other arrangements- bleaker and bleaker.
:-(
By the time it`s organised it will be the 31st Birthday Bash. Ha Ha.
As long as it's not in May,clashing with Bristol. I can't afford two comic do's in one month.
Mebbe they could combine it with Bristol?
Grateful for the info! I was getting worried too.

Thanks for the info, Keef. I hope Rigellian Hotshots all round are the order of the day for the third party. This is what happens when you outsource, kids!
Maybe it was planned to hold the event at one of those Happy Eaters, they've just closed down!
Seriously, though, really hope it's something special, I'd love to make it-the last 2000ad related event I was able to attend was the 25th birthday bash! I'm itching for a knees up!
Combining it with Bristol would be cool.
Combining with Bristol would benefit both parties I reckon.
Tharg would get extra punters through the door as a result of it being in Bristol and Bristol would get a lot of extra publicity because of it being the 30th birthday.
In fact, I'm of the opinion that DREDDCON should actually sort of go "on the road" and link up with a different comic festivals if it could e.g. a DREDDCON in Glasgow would tie in nicely with whatever that inveterate but extremely nice drunkard John McShane planned as a replacement for Moniaive. I sent this suggestion to him but he probably drank it...
I must admit- I really enjoy the Bristol con and quite like this idea...
Bristol are already announcing it as a celebration of 30 years of thrillpower on their front page.

That montage has been made from the character profile images on this site - certainly helped by the work Robin did on removing their backgrounds.
Cheers,

It's pretty cool, but who's that guy in front of Harry Twenty?
I didnt even notice him...
