The trailer for the ' Get Smart ' remake was shown last night.
Despite the SMART choice of casting Steve Carroll as Maxwell Smart, Anne Hathaway as Agent 99, Alan Akin as The Chief and Terrance Stamp as Siegfreid.
I not so sure they will live up to their obvious similarities to those well known personalities.
As for the other stuff in the movie. I was thinking they should go for the circa 1960's look rather than modernise it.( Like what had happened to Casino Royal.) I thinking of Austin Powers movies as I like what they had acheived with that one there.
Should Steve Carroll, who does look abit like Don Adams try to re-emulate the trademark style of this late actor in this role or should he act this out from perspective of the way the character might have been written for the original script?
You may that either way, without the orignal actor this movie might be ruined.
As for the movie itself. They haven't shown enough of it. Though judging by what I have seen from other films such as 'The Legend of Ron Burgundy' ( Also stariing Steve Caroll.) which had managed to capture a certain flair for retro fashion, style, and wit that I thought may be appropiate for this movie.
In the hands of Peter Segal, this may turn out to be good remake. As his past credits include most of the old Naked Gun films.

yet again, something that shouldn't have been remade has been remade. The pair in that picture just make me miss the originals.
Was Get Smart ever shown in the UK? I don't remember ever seeing it on TV here.
Must have been for a time in the early 90s, because I remember watching many episodes on Sundays with my Dad, who remembered it from the first time around. Great stuff.
The standard of some of the entries in the August art competition was amazingly high and has got me thinking. For the October, November or December comp why don't we have a free for all where boarders send in 2000ad images. We could vote on the
twelve best which could then be made into a nice downloadble calendar in pdf format or somesuch.
I'm aware that Rebellion are making a 2008 calendar (woohoo!) which I'll still be buying but I think this would make for a nice competition.
Thoughts?
