Watched The life of Brian last night - in my opinion, the funniest film ever made, closely followed by Withnail & I.
What are your all-time funniest films or film moments?
"You mean you were raped?" "Well yes, at first!"
Life of Brian's up there. As is Spinal Tap, Airplane. Have also received jaw-ache from M P's The Holy Grail, most of the Kevin Smith and The Comic Strip Present's films and a fair few of Terry Gillian's.
In descending order:
Mr.jolly lives next door ,More Bad news , bad news,[all comic strip] Oh lucky Man.
I have to go for Life of Brian as No. 1 too, it is literally asphxyia-inducingly funny. After that, probably The Big Lebowski, which reduces me to incoherent tears of laughter, and then A Night At The Opera, and A Shot in the Dark. This is Spinal Tap is in there too, as is (god help me) Ace Ventura
I was determined not to like Ace Ventura, because I'd seen an interview beforehand with Jim Carey, who was refusing to come out of the character of a really obnoxious, needy prima donna.
Spliff-fueled, I laughed like a drain pretty much from start to finish. (I didn't laugh once during the sequel.)
I didn't laugh once during the sequel
I don't think anyone did.
Life of Brian favourite line changes all the time.
At the moment it's, 'Should be a good one today. Local boy.'
Life of Brian is genius.
So is Young Frankenstein.
But the one comedy film I keep watching over and over is South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut.
I've never had much interest in the TV show, but the film - well, longer episode - just works so well.
It's a great musical, with wonderfully puerile humour.
You donkey-raping shit-eaters.

On the Jim carrey front, that split personality one he made (me, myself & irene??) was on last night and I found myself laughing outloud to it.
Much to my suprise.
Hmmm, and I quite rate The Cable Guy and Dumb and Dumber too. And yet if you asked me to go to a Jim Carrey movie, I'd probably say 'ugh',
I watched Top Secret again recently- still some brilliant bits
The singing horse had me laughing out loud and too long
even the memory of it cracks me up
Link: its a horse...and its singing!
That film called The Idiots by Lars Von Trier is supposed to be very funny but i have yet to see it.
looking forward to postal when it comes out. anything like the game and i will be pissing me keks
Anchorman never fails to tickle my funny bone, there's too many great lines to mention really.
weekend at bernies
Bad Boys II 'as been cheering me up tonight until, oh no, this shit just got real.
Lets see Blazing Saddles, History of the World, and of course Young Frankenstien.
I watched Top Secret again recently- still some brilliant bits.
Like the anal instrusion kit when he (Val Kilmer) was imprisoned.

Top Secret - I LOVE this movie! It's even better than Airplane (favourite scene: watching the cows through the binoculars). "I know a little German."
Life of Brian - quite probably the best movie ever made. I agree with Rac about the favourite line changing... Right now it's, "All the gold I could eat."
This is Spinal Tap - utterly brilliant. "They were still booing him when we came on stage."
Ace Ventura - Pet Detective - Love it. "Hey Ace, got anymore of that gum?" "That's none of your damn business and I'll thank you to stay out of my personal affairs."
"The Idiots" has funny bits but is actually quite ugly and upsetting - and certainly not a date movie!

I don't care for most frat pack movies but DodgeBall and The 40 Year-Old Virgin were full of much unexpected mirth.
And ditto most of the above films, although a few of my favourite moments are somewhat diminished by repeated viewing (I'm thinking of Cleese's double-take in Life of Brian when Biggus Dickus says 'Hail Caesar!'. Likewise, in A Shot in the Dark when Clouseau, completely helpless, looks directly at us).
If I was to go for the single funniest moment in any of those films, it'd have to be when Pilate turns to his quivering guards and says: "He has a wife, you know". I can barely type that without crying.
'That's just what Jesus said, sir!'
The Happiness of the Katakuris. Takashi Miike being gloriously silly.
The first line is 'My uvula!' (the dangly bit at the back of your throat). The film launches into cheesy song-and-dance numbers at the most inappropriate possible moments (upon the gruesome discovery of a dead body, for instance). Whenever something occurs that the film crew clearly didn't have the budget for (a volcanic explosion, for instance) rather than attempt some CGI they cheerfully use claymation versions of the characters instead. It has singing zombies. One of the (clearly very Japanese) characters wears a naval uniform for no particular reason and claims to be part of Britain's Royal Family.
It's meant to be silly, and it's even meant to be deliberately shoddy in places, but even so, a lot of the Japanses humour translates very badly. Which just makes it even funnier.
Never EVER BLOODY ANYTHING EVER !!!!!

All the ones above a great. Also like:
Love and Death "No, YOU must be Don Franisco." "No it's a greater honor for me."
To Be or Not To Be "So they call me concentration-camp Errhardt!"
Raising Arizona "Keep your goddamn hands off m'wife!"
If any of these happen to be playing in a room I'm walking through I will never make it out until the movie finishes.
I absolutely loved Dodgeball.
But I also laugh out loud at You've Been Framed every week.
Oof!

'Run Ronnie Run', thats a funny film. It's crass and purile but there's some piss funny subtle bits. Great Jack Black cameo 'musical number'...
Altogether now-
"Give her just a little kick in the (v^+"...
Borat hasnt had a mention yet.He has now.One of the funniest films i have ever ever seen .

Blazing Saddles - Obvious choice but it's still a classic.
The Jerk is the best Steve Martin film. Am I
the only person with a soft spot for Bowfinger?
A lot of comedies I like don't really make me laugh out loud, case in point: High Anxiety.
Bowfinger was great! A return to form for both Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy
pity it didn't last
Dirty Rottern Scoundrels and Planes Trains and Automobiles are great too
Eric the Viking. Class!
ERIK
There! I have become the wind!
HARALD
How did he do that?
SVEN'S DAD
Do what?
HARALD
Vanish into thin air?
SVEN'S DAD
He hasn't.
HARALD
Well, where is he then?
SVEN'S DAD
He's THERE!
