Watched an import copy of this last night and thought it was hilarious. Far more over the top than I expected after seeing Death Proof, great lines, great music(thought it was John Carpenter 'til I checked the credits) buckets of gore and buckets of ladies. Sweet. I know Death Proof has come up for some stick but I really enjoyed it too, even if the lead up to the action threatened to go on too long I thought it really paid off. Planet Terror however was a lot more like what I expected from the Grindhouse experience, and the ideal movie to watch with a few beers and some mates. Me liked.
Spot on review.
A shame I couldn't see the full grindhouse experience, but I've enjoyed them both, if only all B-Movie exploitation flicks were so good!
The John Carpenter theme was picked up by the group I was with. I had heard Rodriguez listened to a lot of Caprenter stuff on set which gave him the inspiration.
Just nice to watch movies where you can feel the enthusiasm that's gone into them.
Wish I'd seen Death Proof while it was showing. Maybe our local arts centre will put it on (in a double bill with Planet Teror??) before Christmas. Here's hoping.
