Title: Spawn
Post by: badboy on 24 October, 2007, 01:36:56 AM
Got a couple of spawn comics given to me when I was young and enjoyed them so decided to look up some reprints.  Was just in the process of buying a couple of the reprints in the "collection" series!  Was just about to purchase v.1 and noticed that issues 9 and 10 do not feature, does anybody know why?

My knowledge isn't huge on spawn as I was too young but wondered if anybody knew!

I think those are the issues that Neil Gaiman wrote, there was a lawsuit about ownership of some characters in them, which Gaiman won. Don't worry you're not missing much!

The first issues were good fun, and I can see why kids would like them but I think it gradually went downhill. I stopped getting it after about 20 issues or so and I haven't read it since.

I still get it, but only through force of habit. I enjoy reading Spawn, and the first storyline in the Sam and Twitch spin-off, but most of the rest of it has benn pants.

Well all comments seem to be quite negative at the moment, might save my money for some more Stont dog reprints!

i WAS md on spawn and it was one of the first things to get me back into comics. i had all the titan gns but moving house and later being a dad made me 'trim' my collection and as people have already said it went pants i liked the early stuff when todd was drawing and writing and it was good, before it became a horror book with too much emphasis on the dark side ,very negative reading.

i think 10 was the one he did with dave sim starring cerebus about selling out your creation to the masses something he said hed never do.

i think now there should be spawn's arm poking out of the bars.

Ah, if it's a choice between getting Spawn or the Strontium dog reprints then its no contest - get the Stront reprints.
