Title: Thrill Power
Post by: badboy on 28 October, 2007, 05:03:41 PM
Well after much diliberation (and advice from you guys) I dumped the idea of Spawn comics!
(and a good half hour waiting for someone to actually come to the info desk at Borders.........to then tell me they didn't have JD case files 4..........)

I plumped for Strontium Dog Search/destroy files 1 and Nemisis the Warlock Vol.1.

Will this be enough thrill power do you think?  Seeing as I am pretty much a virgin to both stories.....hope I'm not dissapointed!

ALSO can I just say Borders charge full rrp on comic/sci fi GN's and then cram them all in to a tiny space together!  Half of the books on the shelf were either dog eared, scratched or bent around other books. I had to go scavenging for a good copy of SD. Its a disgrace, but if you go to play/amazon etc.... the books come straight from a warehouse and touch (probably) a maximum of 1 persons hands until the book is in your hands and you also save about 30+ bloody percent on each book!!!! Fair enough you have to wait a day or too but I won't be buying any of my rising collection from a shop again!...........*lie* maybe Forbidden Planet

Arguably tooth's greatest stories outside of JD. Fast-paced, high-octane, unashamedly pulpy fun that arrives on the page pretty much fully-formed.

Well started the SD files last night and so far suitably impressed and enjoying it and would have read a lot more if I could stay awake.

I love the setup so far, with the friendship with Wulf and the ongoing hate for muties.  I understand now why this strip is a huge favourite with 2000ad fans.

Personally, I always rated SD *above* JD. As for where to buy, Amazon stuff always arrives in variable conditionĂ¢??often, GNs are badly dinged. I've never ever had that problem with FPI, though, whose packers seem to be a lot more careful.

And the nice people at Travelling Man Leeds have been shipping me comics and graphic novels free of charge for a while now and there's never been a problem. When an order includes half a dozen Showcase Presents books that's a mighty weight and price and effort and appreciate it enough to pass that on.

Well I got JD Case Files 1,2 and 3 from amazon and they all they seemed to be in perfect condition! S'pose it is a little hit and miss sometimes but I was shocked at the presentation in Borders.
