Title: Edgington-DAbnett Boom! Warhammer comics
Post by: Marbles on 06 November, 2007, 02:23:49 PM
Anyone else reading Boom! Studios Warhammer comics ?

There are two distinct series, both written by Edg & Abnett, but one is fantastic and one is utter pants. How the same writers can produce work of such differing quality is beyond me.

The fantasy setting 'Forge Of War' is really amazing, great story, lovely art. The sci-fi (40K) 'Damnation Crusade' is in contrast badly drawn & the story is  incomprehensible garbage (imo).

Two other things to note (a) Boom! are apparently not in the best of shape financially - lets hope they can continue to produce the fantasy version of the comic at least ... (b) the Boom! TPB's are smaller than the original (standards sized) comics, which is damn annoying.

Read a frighteningly cheap collection of Abnett's Warhammer comics: Imperial Gothic. The only thing wrong with it was the inconsistency in the art, the writing was workman like enough.
Abnett sometimes doesn't wow me (and he does have that capacity), but he's never bored me.
