Seeing as I'm havng problems getting 'Strontium Dog S/D N Volume Three' from the online shop here and by the appaerance that their prices appear to be lower. I have decided to continue purchasing 2000AD material from Forbidden Planet at their location in London.
As do recall few bad reviews regarding the quality of their services, I would like to get few more opinions here before I go forward with the purchasing.
What I heard about them-:
They often lose stuff and sometimes the product is badly damaged by the time it reaches the customer.
Is this true?

Hey TS, it's a Major store here in the UK, and they or their twin FPI should be pretty reliable.
Do you know how much they charge for international shipping?
No, as I'm not international.
As ever suprsied that Amazon can ignore a whole continent.
I know Amzon.com do charge alot ( For both Priority and Normal P&H fees.) and I fear that Forbiiden Planet may do the same.
Only reason I'm not using Amazon.Com is that they will charge me about fourteen extra dollars per book on top of another fee of about sixty dollars. Thats before paying for any of the product alone.

There are plenty of copies on eBay right now that will post worldwide. Or get your local comic shop to order it through Diamond.
Or get the current Comics International and try some of the comic shops from the directory pages at the back.
Don't know if Play.com post to Australia but try them.
No offense but it seems like you're getting a bit worked up about finding this book, keep your chin up old chap :) You'll get there.
I have practically found everything under the 2000Ad brand name that I want ( Including That thrid Strontium Dog book.) on the 'Forbidden Planet' Site.
It's better organised by the appearance. I'm just waitng on a reply from them regarding their P & H fees.
Waterstones, might take me awhile longer. Not used to using their site, yet.
Amazon.Com aren't selling the Tee-shirts or action figures by what I could find there and they are alittle dearer.
So whats wrong the online shop here?
Forbidden Planet are being notoriously slow picking up my order which I had put in last week.
Is this normal for them or this something to do with the end of year rush.
:: their twin FPI should be pretty reliable
Aren't they now two entirely separate chains, but with the same name? In my experience, FPI (not Forbidden Planet) has a high quality of service. The only negative is that stock levels are not displayed, meaning you sometimes put in an order for ten things, only to get one and a bit of paper saying the other nine aren't in stock. However, for newer stuff, it's superior to Amazon, not least in the bullet-proof packaging. I've also received fewer damaged or dinged copies from FPI than Amazon.
Aren't they now two entirely separate chains, but with the same name? .
Yup. And FPI is the better of the two in any dealings I've had with them.
When I was down in the Smoke for Winterfest, and went in not long after the Shaftsbury Avenue store had opened, I remember not being very impressed at all and found myself wishing it was back in Denmark Street, how it used to be.
...found myself wishing it was back in Denmark Street, how it used to be.
Dear God yes, it is a foul hole these days. Even the New Oxford St incarnation was better, but oh, for the days of Demark Street.
I remeber New Oxford St...but preferred Gosh and even the dump of a shop on the way to Covent Garden over FP. Jonathon Ross' shop was OK, only went there twice and found it by accident the first time. Gosh was the best by far.
"the dump of a shop on the way to Covent Garden over FP"
That's long gone now, as is the Ross one in Soho, the one that used to be in the old Virgin Megastore and Comics Showcase.
As is The Comic Inn (in the cellar of The Book Inn), which I think is now a musical instrument shop.
Times are changing...
"it is a foul hole these days"
You think? I always thought FP on Shaftsbury Avenue a pretty good store. It has helpful staff, decentish stock, and the toys are safely shoved into an area you can neatly avoid if all you're interested in is books.
As for Gosh, that place is really good (and an indie), and was the only place around that had the Usagi Yojimbo book I wanted. Which was nice.
Gosh! is one of the great comics shops. Combining it with a stroll around the British Museum and a stop in the gaming shop round the corner (they sell the addictive Dinosaur snap there!) one of the great joys of a visit to London.
"[FP] it is a foul hole these days"
You think?
Ach, don't mind me, I'm just hopelessly grumpy today, but I wasn't impressed by their absolutely horrendous toy prices and limited stock when I was in FP a few weeks back. You're right, the book section is pretty good, but I didn't think that much of the comics section, which used to have legendary status in my adolescent memory.
On the same trip I stumbled into a very nice wee comics shop on Charing Cross Road that I'd never seen before, in a basement opposite that upmarket black-and-pink porn shop near the Oxford Road junction. It has a leather couch for browsing on, and nice thematic arrangements of books with interesting combo-deals. Does 'Orbital' sound right?
Not a million miles from FP on Shaftesbury Avenue is Comicana (?), a very old school comics shop - and frankly it smells funky, maybe as it should. Not somewhere to bring your girlfriend, methinks.
"Does 'Orbital' sound right?"
Yup, that's Orbital, now moved to Charring Cross Road (up from Cambridge Circus) from the edge of Soho where it used to be (sort of behind Foyles). Comicana's just up on Shaftesbury Avenue, above FP. Both shops are some of the few to cater to the ever-dwindling back issue market.
Orbital also has a Manga/Movie oriented store down towards Leicester Square.
Gosh remains the most dignified and non-superhero-y comics-browsing experience in Old Smoky at present, though FP isn't as bad as a lot of people make out.
It is *pretty* bad though.
I'd attempt to liken it to being trapped in an eternally motionless lift with a couple of seventeen year old fanboys discussing the various merits and articulation points of Spawn action figures. And you're starting to notice a suspiciously funny smell...
I've never seen anyone use the wheelchair lift in FP. I find that ... haunting.
I can't even talk to them.
They won't reply to any of my E-mails.
Is this Evil really nessacary?
In the 23 or 24 days since I have submitted my order to Forbidden Planet. They have neither confirmed or processed it.
Should I begin panicking.
Should begin looking else where for my th 2000Ad relted material that I have ordered?
Why dont you try play.com or the bookdepository, both have free worldwide delivery, and so far I have no complaints.

2000AD Slaine - "Kiss my axe" T-Shirt
Judge Dredd the Complete Case Files Volume 9
Legendary Heroes 2 - Judge Death
Strontium Dog : Search-Destroy Agency Files 04
Strontium Dog: Search/Destroy Agency Files 03 ( Already Purchased through Ebay.)
The Complete Nemesis the Warlock Book 2
The Complete Nemesis the Warlock Book 3
These are the items. I have ordered from Forbidden Planet. So far they told me that they were wating for Strontium Dog 3 to be restocked and that Strontium Dog 3 and Nemesis the Warlock Book 4 would be pre-orders. They said they were okay with the rest of my order.
As some of you may know I have gone ahead and ordered the Strontium Dog book three through Ebay. I still can't figure why the Online store HERE couldn't help me with that.
After cancelling that same book from my Forbidden Planet order.
They replied telling me that they have words to the effect not processsed my order and straight told that my money has not been touched. Which seems woerd. BUt really considering some of the bad press I had heard earlier about the Forbidden Planet Bookstore reputation for being reliable. To me lately they had been a last resort. Merely because I couldn't get that third Strontium Dog book here.
Now that problem's out of the way. I was wondering if the online bookstore here would like to pick up my order where Forbidden Planet had left off.
I know that they are selling the new t-shirts here now. As that Slaine one had been part of my order and there is also the Nemesis the Warlock Book two now availble here as well.
What is the likelyhood of the 9th Judge Dredd Book, the 4th Strontium Dog book, the 3rd Nemesis the Warlock making a appearance pretty soon in the online bookstore as well?
I would like to know where I can order the the New Legendary heros Judge Death Action Figure as well if not from here.
Can't someone in the UK just buy these books for him then ship them out at cost, or even a small profit?
Chris
PS I would but not in the UK these days
"BUt really considering some of the bad press I had heard earlier about the Forbidden Planet Bookstore reputation for being reliable. To me lately they had been a last resort."
Bear in mind there are two totally different and unrelated-in-all-but-name FP online stores. In my experience, FPI (Forbidden Planet International) has been of a generally high standard, its only downfall being really crappy online stock levels. (In other words, order ten things, only to then get a rather small package that has two items and a bit of paper saying everything else is on back order.) Service, however, has never been anything short of very good indeed, and the packaging is excellent.
FP, on the other hand...
Yes Well, as time pass's by...., I am partially cancelling MY order at Forbidden Planet by two books ( Strontuim Dog CF Three and Nemesis the Warlock CF Two.) and a 'Slaine 'Kiss my Axe' T-shirt so far.
Those have been available from the online store here for a short while, I know now. I gotta laugh, that mysteriously rare Strontium Dog book S/D CF three finally made it's appearance, too.
I swear seeing that book is now available is a sick joke after buying it through Ebay.
Would you like to know why I'm cancelling part of my order?
They ( Forbidden Planet.) haven't done much with my order since I first submitted it late November last year.
Thing is that ordering stuff separately is damageing my bank balance more than I would like.
Reason why I had a real quiet Christmas and New Year this last fornight.
Now that only leaves the 'Judge Death Legendary Action-Figure', 'The Judge Dredd CF Nine', 'Strontium Dog S/D CF Four', Nemesis The Warlock CF Three' .
