Title: The new Judge Dredd Action figure.....
Post by: ThryllSeekyr on 13 November, 2007, 05:36:19 AM
.....just arrived snuggly packed inside a box at my doorstep.

Strange thing, is that I barely remember ordering this or prepareing to order this. Actulley I had just add this to the list of books I was about to order from the Forbidden Planet in London. Which is okay, seeing as I haven't confirmed the order yet.

I quite chuffed about this. Which means I'm happy. Though, I have to go through all my credit card bank statements to find out when I did exactly order this action figure. Just lately I have noticed  that amount of money has gone missing from one of my accounts, so I hope that is why.

Anyway, I haven't taken it out yet. I notice that it's smaller than it seems to be. It's practically the same size as it's older Reaction Counterpart. ( Holding one up against the other.)

The only improvemnt I really notice about this one is the detail on the green boots and the gloves. The rest of the figure is very ordinary if not shabby. In alot of ways the older one is still better. Shame about the golden shoulder pads, helmet and badge though.

Two guns are better than one, I guess.

Though, I still see this as a worthy collectors item and shall display it with the others in my collection.

After separating the from it's backing cardboard and plastic see-thru cover.

I find that ther is no Birdee Lie Detector.

No Daystick.

Is this normal?

Looking at the Eagle. I notice that it does have more detail and looks more interesting here. It's alittle bigger than it's predecessor.

What I am going to do with the Pitt's right and roll of chains?

Standing both figures together. The old and the new. I am now surprised to notice that the new one is slightly shorter. I might even say that it's scaled down overall, ever so slightly.

I was said before that in some pictures. Like the one above. The gold plateing has a definite gold sheen to it. While in other pictures and on the figure I have in my possession. The gold looks more or less just a dazzeling yellow.

Comparing weapons. I'm sorry that the old one stilllooks better even without the extended muzzel or nozzel on it. The detail is better and the new one is softer. Threatening to break if not being to careful with holstering it. It did almost snap when I took it out. The sculpt is definitly inferior.

I don't know whats with this new Judge Dredd having two guns. Is one a later model of Lawgiver or  just another gun ( I'm thinking of another gun that I'm currently forget the name of.) Though they do both bear the signature
Dail and rachet( Thats what I call the thing that spins around at the back.)

I thought that the Helmet might come off of the new one. But it is held fast and I wouldn't want to apply any more pressure. I could have sworn that there was a picture of the same figure on this messageboard somewhere of a Dredd with closely cropped dark hair.

The face, depite it's more detailed scupl. Still isn't as good as the old one. It even appaers to be wearing lippy or is that supposed to be his natural lip colour. Overall, the old one still llooks better.

The only thing I really like about the near Dredd figure is the extra points of articulation, the paint work and sculpt of the boots, and gloves. The paint work of the American flag on the belt. The two holsters the never existed on the old one. The availability of the two guns. Judge Dredd does look cooler with both of them.

I almost forgot to mention the knife. Not that I am a expert on knives ( Even with my experience in a sheep abattoir.) But I'm not sure if the broader bladed slashing knife is what Joe Dredd actualley uses. I'll have to check the books for that one.

About the same size of the reaction version, no acessories. But the face looks like something Bolland may have drawn. Worth the cash.

death is far superior than dredd and better than the reaction death.

i'm now up to eight on the reaction dredd front now must stop now its getting silly!!!!

never understood the clear plastic "ghost"  or "stealth" figures meself though.

I almost bought the translusent Death figure, but held back. Though I'd like to see more 2000AD figure in that line after Mean Machine. I really don't want to fall in to the whole variant trap.

The Reaction Death figure has less articulation than the other 2000AD figures.

The legs being fused into one position only ( More a marquette than a action figure.) and because of how puny they are. The figure needs to be leaning up against something else to just stand up.

The overall look of the figure gives off a dimished impression of a character that should appear larger than life ( Or Death!!!) itself.

On the subject of Reaction variants....

I thought the Slaine variant Warped was better if not bigger than the regular version. The facial expression basically captures what makes Slaine... Slaine!!!. I glad I managed get thsi version through EBAY.

I was comparing the two Death and Dredd figrure tonight. The Toy Biz Death is taller than both Dredds and dwarf the Reaction Death. Though the Dredds are about the same in hieght.

I have seen the translucent Judge Death variant in shops but didn't buy it.

I wasn't all that imprsssed with it.

Good to hear that the Toybiz version is better.
