Title: Uncovered by Thomas Allen
Post by: Marbles on 03 December, 2007, 03:09:35 PM
"Scalpel in hand, Thomas Allen seeks out vintage copies of pulp fiction titles from the mid-20th century, ruthlessly attacks their front covers and then - it's playtime! But it's not as sinister as it sounds. Inspired by the humble pop-up book, Allen arranges his cut-outs into dramatic 3-D scenes and photographs them. Thanks to his nifty lighting and sophisticated stage-management, the results could almost be stills from a retro movie. Despite the 2-D cast, he brings hackneyed narratives to life and re-writes them for a modern audience, complete with sexual verve, visual jokes and characters that look like they're about to walk - or perhaps fall - out of the frame. It's a spectacular feat of recycling."

Title: The Big Old End of Year Christmas Quiz!
Post by: DavidXBrunt on 03 December, 2007, 03:40:37 PM
Now it's been a while since we last had a non-art based competition and as the year draws to a close I think it's time for a bumper fun filled quiz.

Over the next week I'll post up a series of, often wilfully obscure questions based on 2000 A.D. in general and 2007 in particular. When all 30 are online I'll provide an e-mail adress for your answers to be posted to. So don't reply to this thread with the answers, because that would be a really stupid. Be like Dad, and Keep Mum. Or something.

There'll be prizes for whoever gets the most right, and a special prize for anyone who makes me laugh with the best wrong answer. In the event of a tie names will be drawn out of a Judge Dredd Beanie. The deadline will be  the 12th of December.

Are we ready? Then we'll begin.

1) Which 2007 television series used pages of 2000 A.D. as set dressing?

2) If Dan Abnetts is 10, Steve Roberts is 310, and Ian Gibsons is 204, What is Si Spurriers?

3) Which Romanov covered Cliff Richard this year?

4) Which is the Odd Prog Out? 1525, 1534, 1550,  1562?

5) Which two promised strips were no-shows this year?

6) Another odd one out, this time around end of year progs Which one is missing something that the others all contain - 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, or 2008?

Right, that's enough for today. More tomorrow.

And to repeat, don't reply with your real answers.

Nice, I particularly like the one with the guy punching through the cover...
