...the monthly art compos?
They were great fun (even if I generally didn't find time to enter them).
Dunno. The calender one was the last to be started, and it just sorta fizzled out.

It's happened several times now. We have bursts of creativity where we all spark off each other for several months in a row, then you inevitably get one where most of the regulars don't have time to enter, the resulting thread ends up a bit lacklustre and underwhelming, people lose interest for the next one, and the whole thing just fizzles out.
so now there's a caption compo... but I can't be aresed sorting out prizes etc

Spooky! I had been mulling over proposing a not-for-prizes resurrection of the Art Comp for 2008, and up pops Mr Bast with his post ...
OK ... how about this?
I don't think any of us who ever entered the compos last year did so for the prizes, we did it for the fun, the fame, the applause!
So ... what does the board reckon? Pretty much the same deal as last time - the winner each month picks the next month's theme?
Each month - three weeks of entries, one week of voting? Actually, that might make things a bit tight - 2.5 wks for entries, a week of voting, 3 days for the winner to pick a new topic?
I'm happy to volunteer to count the votes, with the possibility that work may spanner things up occasionally and I may have to ask for help on the odd occasion ...?
Can I try to kick-start the proposition with a theme for the first comp, starting Friday Jan 18th - running until Friday February 8th ...?
BIG ROBOTS. Film, comics, cartoons ... as long as they are
A) Robots
and
B) Big
They'll count for the compo.
Anyone up for it?
Cheers!

Another forum I hang out on has a Weekly art thread, where we compile a list of participants and each week the next person on the list picks a topic (in that thread's case, usually comic's related) and then everyone does drawing to fit the topic. If you don't regularly post art or at least crit other's work you lose your chance to pick.
We usually have a ball and get a good number of submissions every week over there. Maybe something like that could work here?
I reckon they're just good fun, they shouldn't be taken to seriously and there's no need for prizes
So yeah- the big robots thing sounds good to me :)
I won't have time to enter this month, but it would be criminal of me not to post this to get the ball rolling:
I'm in. Big robots!
oooh thats ace
hmm, i think we have a winner already
I'm not entering this one- it's for showing off purposes only.
:)
And a swell job it does at that
Here's mine- do i get bonus points for the pun?
