Title: White-Trash
Post by: ThryllSeekyr on 25 January, 2008, 06:40:15 AM
I remember buying this on one of my comci book runs in the early ninties.

Something to do with this psycho Elvis type making a return gig in Vegas. On the way he offers a ride to a mscian back packing across the back roads of the Mid west. This person who resembles Axel Rose accepts and they are robbing fast food outlets, killing innocent bystanders, running from the CIA, Police, Mutant hill-billies, Klansmen, VietNam Vets before the climax of story. Apparently there was letter from the Lawyers at the Elvis estate about the character likeness and the abuse there of.

I forget artist was, but loved the graphics. It does look like it could be Simon Bisley's work. Very similer, if not his. Though I don't have the book anymore. Either it's sitting in a place where I can't find it or, it's been thrown out or destroyed or stolen.

Of course these days. I'm much more careful with storage and handling of this type of media. Though I still have problems of idiots warning where they should, often find themselves inside our house and are taking stuff or merely just moving the stuff around. Something that can't be helped while I'm either asleep or have vacated the home.

I might look to see if this one is still available from Ebay. They have not failed me yet.

Yeah, good book. I have this. Sadly, I believe Martin Edmond died quite recently. He also drew some of the early (better) Accident Man strips for Toxic - worth checking this out too if you can find it.

I just found it on ebay. Though it's discribed as being the third issue. Perhaps only a single comic rather than a graphic novel.

That grayed out spoiler didm't finished where I meant it too.

Martin Emond started in comics on Accident Man.
Hethen worked with Gordon Rennie, who's writing he loved on White Trash.
It was probably the work he was proudest of. He loved GnR, and the name character is Axl Rose.

He drew a Chopper story with Garth Ennis for the Meg.

He also drew strips with Alan Grant as well, some Lobo books (a great Lobo/Deadman crossover) as well as an unprinted Punished book, and then worked for Glenn Danzig's Verotika.

Marty then went into painting, and designed his own characters, Switchblade being one, which were about to be turned into an animated series when he died.

Sadly missed, atrue gentleman, and friend to all.

:-) Rufus
