Title: Would you Believe.....
Post by: ThryllSeekyr on 08 February, 2008, 06:20:17 PM
....that after getting my copy of 'The Thirteenth Floor', I noticed that the movie of the same name was on thsi very night. ( One of the other cable channels that we don't have access to.)

That's the type of thing that would almost have me beleive that I am being spied on by a Optus Cable techician. Though, lets just leave that though at that.

Another thing was that the night ( or early morning.) before I got the urge to read up on a movie on IMBD.com. I was interested in finding out more about the then young female actress in this film. 'The Dust Factory', A movie I had seen on the televsion months earlier. This actress. Is also in the 'Heros' television series. She would be the female cheerleader with the extra healing factor, regeneration type of thing. Anyway, she's got one of those weird long names that is hard to pronounce or even remember properly. Anyway, the strange thing is that on the following night while sitting infront of the television, surfing through all the availble movies on cable. There it was. That very same movie. I didn't know, I don't hardly ever read the cable T.V. guide. Which is abit of a headache to read anyway. That gave me abit of shock. Clairvoyancy, maybe not. Perhaps it was just a coinincidence. Though I'm not lying.

Back on the subject of the 'The Thirteenth Floor'. The graphic novel, that didn't take me very long to read at all. Well, it's quite interesting, though not really as scary or chilling as I thought it could have been. As I must have been jaded by watching modern televsion and reading 2000AD. Yeah, sort of like a horror novel for kids really. Though it did have certain vibe to it that kept me hooked. The recurring theme might have used abit more humour. I could almost imagine this type of Novel being written into a Judge Dredd story. ( Which I prefer.) I beleive there is a story about our favorite Judge getting stuck inside a autonomous building.( Check Judge Dredd Case Files Number One.) Anyway, reading this gave me a few ideas which I have neglected to write down and remember. Though I thought one of the Galactic Federation ships from one of the more modern variations of the 'Star Trek' show has the holodeck that reminds me of this mysterious Thirteenth floor. Though I am quite sure these stories pre-date the modern Trek series.

As for Max the computer. I had been wondering if he's supposed to sound like anything like K.I.T.T. from 'Knight-Rider'. Not hard to imagine, though that may not have been on the mind of the creator John Wagner, Alan Grant and Jose Oritz. It might just sound totally alien.

Thats what I had been thinking.

Most importantly. Was the 1999 movie of the same name meant be a tribute to this work or is that just another coincidence.
