Title: Sealed Plastic envelops.
Post by: ThryllSeekyr on 25 February, 2008, 02:35:18 AM
I got these in the mail today. They look good so far.

Great conditon.

Despite their age, I wonder if these haven't ever been taken out of their plastic envelops.

They well seal. I'd it has been done by machine.

There is no sticky tape, no opening at all.

No, I'm not complaing, but just alittle distressed.

Like it will be shame for me to break the seal.

Break the seal man, break the seal...

Comics are made to be read y'know?

And,depending on the plastic used, it could do them more harm than good in the long run...

Although, that particular run aint exactly prime thrills...

still emancipate the progs, BREAK THE SEAL...

Yes,  I have opened about three.

They are very hard to open cleanly BTW.

May I suggest a pair of scissors? Scissors are a handy little tool that have served me well on many an occasion, when I've needed to open a plastic envelope quickly and cleanly with minimal fuss. You can get curved or serrated scissors, but I prefer to go with the straight-edged ones for cleanless of cut. I mean, it's up to you, but that's what I did.  You can use them for other things, too, Like cutting your hair or toenails. Even opening other types of envelope, such as paper or card. You should see the edges of my plastic envelopes. Really straight. I'd post a photo if I had one, but I haven't. I could take one later, possibly. If I can remember where I put my camera.

Good idea.

I guess I should swap the slightly blunt knife I always keep next to me for a pair scissors.

Just plain lazieness on my part.

My techniquec involves piercing the plactic that clear of the edge of the magazine and sliding the sharpest edge of knife along the the inside of the envelope's matching the tip with the inside of the crease.

Until I realise this isn't working very well ,a dn I then decide to tear the plastic envelope open with just my plain old fingers.

Without damaging the Prog of course. This includes not bending it anywhere until it's creased.
