The Marvel Adventures line is awesome. Continuity-free stories that often rival their 'real' counterparts in terms of both story and art, they're kind of like how you remember comics as a kid, only being printed right now for you as an adult.
Paul Tobin's Adventures work is worth checking out, especially the Avengers stories, where the cast are just a bunch of slightly hateful assholes hanging out in New York killing time until something ludicrous happens, like a dinosaur rampage or Ultron taking over a Santa Claus robot for a killing spree.
