Hi, haven't been around for a while, but I thought I'd post a shameless plug for a project I've been working on. We're building toward making a horror feature film next year about two kids from Aston in Birmingham getting sent to a boarding school where all is not as it seems.
Our first phase is the creation of a website http://www.killriculum.co.uk (http://www.killriculum.co.uk) there's a pretty good video mash-up and we're asking people to upload their own short horror movies to the site with awards being given for the ten best at Birmingham's HelloDigital event in October where we're also running workshops and doing a big screen showing of The Bride of Frankenstein. In the gallery you can view shorts that people have made already and vote on them.
There's also a group called Killriculum on Facebook if you fancy joining.
Have a look if you're at a loose end.
I had a look. Nice website: very slick. A very atmospheric teaser. Far too short! It made me want to see more, so it can't be bad. And the links to the other short films in the gallery were good, even if some of the films themselves were only mildly diverting. I'm thinking especially of the instructional film with the Lego vampire!

He needs to work on his menace, and maybe say a bit less, a bit louder (and deeper). But his slurping noises were funny and a bit scary as well.
These short films reminded me a bit of the 1970s TV programme 'Screen Test'. It was a boring quiz show that showed clips of old and upcoming films, many of which were made with finacial support from the Children's Film Foundation. The highlight every week, and the only reason for watching, was the segment where they showed clips of films made by over-indulged rich kids with cine cameras. If you were lucky there'd be a bit of stop-motion animation now and then. Of course, with digital video technology, webcams and mobile phones, cost is no longer any barrier to amateur film-making.
Good luck with it. I'm sure it will continue to be an exciting project.
Some of the films that kids are uploading are pretty bizzarre. We've only been live for a week or so so there'll be a lot more films over the coming weeks. We do have to vet stuff first, had an amazing nine minute film made by two kids on a mobile that had a very disturbing grainy seventies slasher movie feel to it. We had to ask the kids to edit it as the scenes of violent knife crime might have been a bit controversial. They've cut it to six and it looks great now.

How dare you...they showed some of Star Wars once you know...I even remember one of the questions...which way did the door on the Millenium Falcon slide shut?
