Title: Non-2000ad GNs with Meg?
Post by: JayzusB.Christ on 16 December, 2008, 01:20:05 PM
Judging by this month's Megazine letters page, a few people are a little bit unhappy with paying loads extra for reprints they've read before (and to be honest, I'm not crazy about it myself).  Also, somebody enquired as to whether it was possible to buy reprints of old Crisis / Revolver stuff.

So, while i'm not sure the legal aspect of it, why not kill two birds with one stone? Have GN's reprinting stuff like the New Adventures of Hitler, New Statesmen or Rogan Josh, none of which I've read.  I know they're full of swear-words and all but, well, Preacher was in the Megazine before.

Nice idea. Although do Rebellion own the rights to this stuff? Because if not, surely that drives up costs again...

I'd love to see this stuff back in print though.

Nope. And, like you said, that would therefore raise the Meg's price (or it'd reduce the amount of original strip again).

Then I'd vote no.

A Tor Cyan GN though, now there's an idea...  :D

What about them??

You can't keep reprinting material using the excuse of 'what about the newer readers'.

Newer readers can go and buy back issues like the rest of us did when we started collecting the comic (or any comic for that matter).

Ebay is chocka block with back issues of 2000ad, it isn't that difficult to build up a reasonable collection tracking issues down on the internet or second hand book shops.

What about older readers who have stuck by the comic through thick and thin (newer readers won't remember Mark Millers ROBO HUNTER - I wish I could), should they have to pay again for material they already have just to support the minority of 'new readers' who pick the comic up every other week?

Some material hasnt even been reprinted once for the benefit of new and old readers alike so perhaps print some of that before printing non - 2000ad material.

Personally i would rather have seen the EE become a quarterly instead of stopping it completely.

The third division old school material has NO chance of being published now due to costcutting etc.

Bring back the Extreme Editions then. If it costs extra money for reprints, at least give me the choice.

I thought this month's bagged selection was about as far away from Graphic Novel as you can get.

Christmas tales normally reek of "filler".

Much as I enjoyed every strip in the actual Meg, at 4-99, I certainly didn't feel like I was getting value for money.

Agreed.....I mean was it too hard to reprint the "better" canon fodder series instead of these pointless filler stories which had a CREEP yes a CREEP story amoung them
