Title: Resident Evil 5 demo
Post by: Roger Godpleton on 26 January, 2009, 10:12:12 PM
A disappointment.

You may have already heard that this is just Resi 4 with better graphics. Well it really is just that. I like Resi 4 as much as anyone else, but it was FAR from perfect and the only significant change they've made is real-time inventory, which isn't really an improvement since it's pretty clumsy. The ganados have most of the same animations, and they've even got the exact same flaming crossbows.

That's a bit of a disappointment, then. Especially since it won't be on wii, which is where Resi 4 really shone.

I've heard tell of co-op on 5 - can you confirm if this is any good?

I think the whole game is supposed to be structured around co-op. Anyone want to play with me at some point this week?

I'll join ou for a game God.  I'm not impressed with SP either.

I didn't enjoy Resi 4 until i played it with vasty better controls on Wii to be honest.  It needs a vast graphical downgrade so we can get a more playable Wii version.

I thought that was meant to be the point of a real time inventory.

If there was a quicker way of cycling through weapons without going through the inventory that would be fine, but you have to make about 4 button presses just to get what you need. Bear in mind that this is emphatically not a survival horror game anymore. It's an action game. There are lots of enemies on screen and some of them are running at you.

You can swap weapons on the d-pad instantly. I agree, the demo is a bit of a let down. I loved 4, but this has'nt moved on at all. The graphics are better, of course, but they were great anyway so thats not where their energies should have been concentrated during the making of this one. It's better in co-op. Just.  :|

didnt say i liked it!

didnt know you could hot key to dpad either(i am the guy who doesnt read instuction manuals)

i just prefer a paused inventory then you can catch your breath and plan your next move and juggle your gear .

If you've seen the new trailer and are wondering who's under the hood it's either
Sherry Birkin or Jill Valentine.
Can this be played 2 player split screen/offline? My mates coming over when this comes out and we already did GOW2 so thought this might be a good shout.

7/10 in Edge. Same score as new 50 Cent game.

Next time out, they should just combine the two franchises.  Resident Fiddy:  "Zombie bitches!   Gonna shoot ya all in yo' muthafuckin' heads!"

Wait....House of the Dead: Overkill already just did that, didn't they?

The 50 Cent game is surprisingly good fun, I hear.
