Isn't this back to some very dodgy notions of a unitary evolutionary path that includes all the 'options' presented, and features 'man' (cough) as the pinnacle, nay the purpose, of the whole show? What happened to the bushy tree of the hominidae? (Please, no allusions or links to sites featuring the genitally hirsute).
