Title: Resident Evil...FIVE
Post by: mogzilla on 14 March, 2009, 02:02:18 PM
Rightee ho ,what do we think of it now the game is out?

I like it even though it borrows heavily from the previous installment with the levels
water beasty fight? check

vehicle chase and snipe a driver ? check

underground city temple thingy? check
one of the bosses is almost identical too!

the ammo is scarce but you can go back and replay any level to top up your supplies and if....no,when you die you can restart from the checkpoint but re- jig your inventory  buy and upgrade etc ( that sheva hogged the grenades then never used any!)

the on the fly inventory is still a pain in the arse when all your weapons are hotkeyed and your spare herbs arent

im about halfway through now and loving it theyve trimmed the travel seventeen levels to find a key then go back bits wich is nice but theyve also gon a bit linear so you cant travel back to an area unless you play it again from the menu!

the resi evil tradition continues with scary dogs !

Enjoying the game just having finished it myself, but I find it lacks a lot of the charm, scares and puzzles that made the original such a great game. It feels like I'm playing Metal Gear Solid most of the time which is not necessarily a bad thing. It also felt a little short but there is plenty of extra things that have still to be done.

I'm playing it on easy at the moment and it feels too easy although I've only got up to level 3. Does it get significantly harder or are them some moments where certain sections are REALLY difficult? If not I will change it to medium as i'm probably not getting the most out of it.

Capcom are claiming that Resident Evil 5, on its first weekend on release, outsold all singles, albums and cinema ticket sales in the UK over the same period, making games the most popular entertainment medium in the country.

Quote- Resident Evil 5 outsold EVERY ITEM in the UK Singles Chart (Based on physical and digital sales of UK Top 200)
- Resident Evil 5 outsold U2's chart-topping new album's total sales since release in ONE WEEKEND (in the UK)
- Resident Evil 5 grossed more than the top 5 movies in the UK this weekend - COMBINED (Source: IMDB.com)

If true, then the monster has truly arrived.  Notice they're not mentioning DVD sales, though...

The cinema thing doesn't surpise me.  Who watches the Watchmen, on only its second weekend on release?  Well - me, my wife and the about 12 other people that were in the cinema last Saturday evening.  Ouch.

If you're not careful, garageman will come along to tell you that you are very, very wrong.

since ive finished it i can say what an absolute pile of shite .......that wasnt! :D

despite reading several less than favourable reviews i enjoyed it immensley...the end felt like an end to that arc so [spoiler:35xq7n93]no more wesker and all thats gone before[/spoiler:35xq7n93]
however i read in various places that the series will be "re-booted" with resident evil  6  and the dude who was being interviewed was expressing an intrest in the return of proper zombies.

ooooh i feel a thread coming on!
