Title: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin
Post by: Keef Monkey on 16 March, 2009, 06:13:51 PM
I know there were a few peeps on here that played the original so was wondering if anyone has picked this up?

Figure I'm about 2/3rds through it and reeeeeeeeeeally enjoying it. Gameplay-wise it's more of the same, but I love the slo-mo gunfights in F.E.A.R. so much I'm quite happy with that. It looks lovely, like the first game but with Condemned 2 visuals, and the blood and gore has a nice stylized look to it, a bit comic book-esque I reckon. Monolith do seem to love their creepy schools, subways and warehouses though, and other than a couple of gunfights in the street the surroundings don't do anything different from what they've done before. Still, if you liked the first game this is well worth a purchase, especially for the £25 I got it for from Game!

Are you playing on a 360? Can you save at any point, or only at set checkpoints? If checkpoints, how frequent are they? While I know some say that the "quicksave and advance" school of gameplay is a big cheat, it's the only way I can play games these days as I rarely get more then 20-30 minutes uninterrupted time to play a game and so that's the only way I can make progress. The fact some games don't let you save where you want really grates, especially when there's a hard drive on the console and the PC equivalent will do so.

Autosaves itself frequently....a good game, the single player is better than the first one,but i didn't think the multiplayer was has good ! didn't take long to finish though !

Yeah, did seem a bit short, that's me finished it in basically two sittings which I haven't done with a game for a while! Kept me gripped 'til the end though which is probably better than it dragging on and petering out. Steve's right about the autosaves Dr X, it basically saves after or just before every shoot-out so in quick bursts you shouldn't find yourself repeating much. A really good game I thought, if anyone does have it and fancies a game online sometime let me know, we can get Team Toothy assembled and take on the public together!
