Title: PIKMIN on Wii
Post by: Tiplodocus on 08 April, 2009, 11:23:03 AM
I'd enjoyed it on Gamecube before Teenage Tips pawned it for fags and booze so was quite chuffed when Tiny Tips said he'd quite like it for his birthday.

For those of you that don't know it's a real time strategy thing; point and click to control cute little vegetable creatures that help you collect parts of your crashed spaceship in an oversized garden. Different coloured PIKMIN have different skills and it's the usual juggling of resources thing to solve the puzzles, and battle the beasties.  I don't mind losing the odd little fella in battle but I'm always gutted when I accidentally leave one behind to be gobbled up at night.

Some of the cut scene animation is a bit crude - I recall it was crap looking even on Gamecube but the actual gameplay; you charging about controlling a hundred of the little pikmin dodging larvae and bugs and slugs is great.

I think the new Wii controls work really well - miles better than a conventional controller. But all you PC and Mouse lovers know that already - nice to have the same pointability on a console. The only fiddly bit is switching Pikmin around but all that really needs is a little patience.

So, Rebellion, when do we get a Bonsai Battallion game?
