Hi, dunno if this is the right place to post this,
I came home and checked my email today and found the following:
Hello James,
You have received a new private message from "profilicus" to your account
on "2000 AD Forums" with the following subject:
Forum administration
You can view your new message by clicking on the following link:
etc...
So I clicked on the link and it takes me to my PMs but there's nothing new there.
Am I missing something or is this some kinda spam?
Also I looked in the members list and could find no-one called profilicus.
Hmm....
Sounds like some enterprising spammer has discovered the PM function but has since been reported and deleted from the board. It's a bit Orwellian, but when they're gone, their username and all posts are erased from history so it's hard to be sure!
I've just checked the admin logs and profilicus was deleted by IndigoPrime earlier today (less than an hour after I deleted forumfan). So far, 7 users have been deleted this month.

If you were lucky enough to receive this message prior to IP's diligent action (as I was) then you were treated to a link to a lovely ad for some viagra.
Cheers
Jim
Got a PM from JAMES just now...guessing it's not really from him unless he's plugging a website that 'It can offer you all kinds of electronic products that you may be in need, such as laptops ,gps ,TV LCD,cell phones,ps3,MP3/4,motorcycles and etc........ '.
Hey WoD, I actually got an Email from James pi mping stuff. Think the poor man has been busted by spambots.
The guy emailed you? Scary. It's getting so you're afraid to step outside your.... keyboard.
I wonder if it's worth asking for a DEATHOMETER counting the amount of spammers deleted each month and their blood-spattered avatars..... There is a part of me (a part I'm not proud of) that wishes for this desperately.
Hey guys, I've just modified the permissions so that members who have never posted anything cannot send PMs, but posts with one or more posts can send PMs.
Hopefully this will combat any spammers who sign up and then just try to spray PMs everywhere. If they have to post something, maybe they'll get picked up on and reported before the PMs start flying.
None of these changes affects reading PMs, so you can still send messages to people who haven't posted, for whatever reason.
